AATO conducts Birdwatching Tour to Chidiyatapu Biological Park

As part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in collaboration with Andaman Avians Club, successfully conducted a birdwatching tour to the Chidiyatapu Biological Park. The tour, held on 25th September 2024, was organicsed for 30 students from Andaman College (ANCOL) and  20 members of AATO with the aim of promoting eco-tourism and creating awareness about Andaman’s rich biodiversity.

Shri A.C. Tilak, Deputy Director of Chidiyatapu Biological Park, briefed the participants on the park’s significance and the diverse bird species found in the area. The tour was expertly conducted by Shri Arun Singh, President of the Andaman Avians Club, who provided valuable insights into birdwatching techniques and the ecological importance of avian conservation.

Shri M. Vinod, President of AATO, emphasized the growing importance of birdwatching in tourism and how such activities contribute to sustainable tourism practices in the Andaman Islands. The students engaged enthusiastically, gaining a deeper understanding of local wildlife and the importance of preserving natural habitats.

The birdwatching tour marked the beginning of AATO’s weeklong World Tourism Day events, with more initiatives focused on promoting eco-friendly tourism and conservation in the islands.
