Abra Group and Etihad Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership, enhancing connectivity between Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. This collaboration will leverage the networks of Abra's airlines—Avianca, GOL, and Wamos Air—alongside Etihad's routes, aiming to unlock new growth opportunities and expand customer access to key global markets.
The partnership will focus on several initiatives, including network development, loyalty programmes, aircraft leasing, and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) operations. These efforts reflect Abra's strategy to utilise its multi-brand platform to foster commercial partnerships and Etihad's goal to strengthen Abu Dhabi's connectivity through alliances with leading airlines.
Key elements of the partnership include reciprocal loyalty benefits, commercial collaboration, and codeshare agreements between Etihad, Avianca, and GOL, with plans to launch these initiatives in 2026. Additionally, GOL and Etihad are considering a potential dry lease of an Airbus A330-900, targeted to commence in November 2026, whilst Wamos Air is expected to support Etihad's expansion plans.
Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group, emphasised the partnership's role in expanding connectivity and unlocking commercial opportunities, stating, "Together with Etihad, we are building a new bridge between Latin America and the Middle East." Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, highlighted the importance of the Latin American market, noting that the partnership will create stronger links between the regions and support Abu Dhabi's growth as a hub.
The parties will continue to work towards finalising agreements, subject to regulatory approvals and operational assessments
