Aer Lingus rescues WOW Air passengers

Aer Lingus is offering impacted WOW Air passengers special rescue fares for those flying from 29 March to 11 April.
Under the voluntary agreement between the Aer Lingus and International Air Transport Association (IATA), it may offer voluntary repatriation assistance to passengers stranded as a result of financial failure by another airline. However, this is still subjected to availability on the Aer Lingus network.

WOW passengers that are scheduled to travel from 12th April onwards, can take advantage of Aer Lingus’ great value fares from the UK to the US and Canada. Fares from GBP 199 each-way, including taxes and charges.
The demise of WOW Air came two days after reports revealed that the airline was scrambling to find new investors to purchase the 51% of shares left in order to escape bankruptcy. Unfortunately, no buyer was found in time.
On 29 March, the Iceland low-cost carrier offering USD 99 transatlantic flights has announced that it will cease all operations leaving thousands of passengers stranded and without flights. This scene is reminiscent of the pandemonium when Primera Air collapses last year.
Financial specialists believe that WOW Air’s bankruptcy would be a considerably weaken the Icelandic krona and inflation would rise by 3.3%.
