Air Astana has been awarded the Sustainable Procurement certification under the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Integrated Sustainability Programme (ISP). This achievement makes Air Astana the first airline in Central Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and only the third globally, to receive this certification.

The IATA ISP offers a framework for airlines to manage and assess sustainability, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their operations. Air Astana's certification acknowledges its structured approach to responsible procurement, which includes ESG considerations in sourcing decisions, supplier assessments, and robust governance processes. The airline's Sustainability & ESG Procurement Policy Statement and Supplier Code of Conduct underpin these efforts, setting principles for sustainable supplier engagement.

"Receiving the IATA ISP Sustainable Procurement certification marks an important milestone in Air Astana’s sustainability journey," said Ibrahim Canliel, CEO of Air Astana. "We are proud to set a benchmark for sustainable procurement in Kazakhstan and the region."

This certification highlights Air Astana's commitment to responsible business practices and sustainability across its operations. By embedding ESG principles into procurement and collaborating with suppliers, the airline aims to foster a more sustainable aviation industry.

Additionally, Air Astana recognises progress among its suppliers through the annual Air Astana ESG Awards, initiated in 2024. This initiative honours partners with strong ESG practices, encouraging further development and the exchange of best practices.
