Air New Zealand has announced a significant upgrade to its Boeing 777-300ER fleet, introducing new cabin designs aimed at enhancing the travel experience for passengers flying to and from Aotearoa New Zealand. The upgrades, set to begin in March 2027, will feature revamped Business Premier and Economy cabins, aligning with the airline's commitment to modernise its international fleet.
The refreshed Business Premier cabin will include Collins Elevation seats, offering increased personal space and privacy with a forward-facing layout. Key features include 44 seats with a 43-inch pitch that convert into lie-flat beds, doors for enhanced privacy, and 18-inch inflight entertainment screens with Bluetooth audio connectivity. Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand's Chief Customer & Digital Officer, stated, “The updated Business Premier cabin will deliver a modern experience for our customers and brings similar functionality to the new seats being rolled out across our 787-9 fleet.”
Economy passengers will benefit from ergonomically designed seats by ZIM and upgraded inflight entertainment. The Economy cabin will feature 246 seats, including Economy Stretch seats with a 35-inch pitch and standard seats with a 31-32 inch pitch. Passengers will enjoy 13-inch entertainment screens with Bluetooth audio connectivity.
The overall layout will maintain 342 seats, with minor adjustments to accommodate the new Business Premier product. The first retrofitted 777 is expected to enter service by May 2027, ensuring a consistent and world-class experience across Air New Zealand's international routes
