Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have announced the launch of new nonstop services connecting Seattle with Osaka, Japan, and Papeete, Tahiti, starting in spring 2027. This expansion marks the eighth and ninth long-haul intercontinental routes from Seattle, furthering the airlines' mission to connect the Pacific Northwest with global destinations.

The new routes will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines using their Airbus A330 aircraft, offering a premium experience with features such as lie-flat business class suites and complimentary Starlink WiFi for Atmos Rewards members. The Seattle to Osaka service will commence on 14 May 2027, operating four times weekly, whilst the Seattle to Papeete route will begin on 11 June 2027, with three weekly flights.

To celebrate the launch, special introductory roundtrip fares are available, starting at $999 (US$999) to Papeete and $1,199 (US$1,199) to Osaka, available until 26 October. These routes will provide the only nonstop service from Seattle to these destinations, offering convenient connections across the airlines' combined network.

Ben Minicucci, President and CEO of Alaska Air Group, stated, "We are building an airline that connects the Pacific Northwest to more of the world." This expansion aligns with Alaska Airlines' long-term plan, Alaska Accelerate, aiming to transform Seattle into a global gateway with at least 15 long-haul destinations by 2030.

The new services will enhance travel options for passengers, providing seamless connections to Asia and Oceania, and are expected to strengthen tourism and business ties between the regions.
