AlUla Development Company begins construction on NUMAJ

AlUla Development Company (UDC), a Public Investment Fund company, has commenced construction on NUMAJ Autograph Collection, marking a significant milestone in AlUla's development. This project, announced on 20 April 2026, is part of UDC's efforts to transform AlUla into a world-class destination, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key figures, including UDC Managing Director John Pagano and Abeer AlAkel, CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla. Pagano emphasised that NUMAJ represents a "clear step forward" in UDC's agenda, focusing on high-quality developments that enhance AlUla's appeal as a global destination.

NUMAJ, designed by GioForma, the architects behind the iconic Maraya, will be operated by Marriott International under the Autograph Collection Hotels brand. The hotel draws inspiration from AlUla's natural landscapes and cultural heritage, with its name derived from the star system Nu Ursae Majoris, historically a guiding reference for ancient travellers.

The development promises a curated hospitality experience, blending resort living with cultural and lifestyle elements. It will feature five dining venues, wellness facilities, and integrated business and leisure offerings. Sustainability is a core focus, with NUMAJ targeting LEED Gold certification through practices like greywater reuse and energy-efficient lighting.

As part of UDC's growing portfolio, NUMAJ aims to support sustainable tourism and economic diversification in Saudi Arabia, contributing to the nation's Vision 2030. The hotel is expected to open in 2027, further solidifying AlUla's status as a premier destination for visitors and investors alike
