ATxSummit 2026 commenced with a focus on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for societal benefit, featuring significant initiatives across the ASEAN region. The summit, inaugurated by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at Gardens by the Bay, highlighted the potential of AI in transforming public sectors through innovative projects and strategic partnerships.

The event showcased the AI Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge, which drew over 600 submissions from across ASEAN. Eleven finalist teams presented AI solutions targeting healthcare, education, agriculture, and social inclusion. The winning team from Brunei developed an AI-powered dementia care platform, whilst Cambodia's Voha.ai and Myanmar's Future Flux focused on aiding hearing-impaired children and providing AI education in rural areas, respectively. These projects underscore the region's commitment to using AI to improve community welfare.

In healthcare, SingHealth and Bhutan's Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop AI-assisted healthcare solutions, including a chest radiograph model set to launch in Bhutan in 2027. Additionally, Singapore General Hospital and A*STAR's DxD Hub agreed to accelerate AI-enabled diagnostic tools, aiming to address issues like antimicrobial resistance and early memory loss detection.

Koo Sengmeng, Director of Talent & Ecosystem at AI Singapore, remarked, "This is the kind of impact we hope to see from our AI Ready ASEAN effort." The summit's initiatives reflect a broader ambition to harness AI for public good, promising advancements in healthcare and education across Southeast Asia
