Two iconic pieces of British motoring nostalgia have been united at the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton-on-the-Water.

A fully restored 1962 Bedford ice cream van, affectionately named Bertie, has been unveiled alongside Brum, the beloved children's television character.

Bertie, which recently underwent an extensive restoration, has been transformed from a dilapidated state into a fully operational food outlet and visitor attraction. The van, which featured on the television programme "Find It, Fix It, Flog It" in 2024, was acquired by the museum for $5,500 (£4,500) despite its significant disrepair. The restoration included structural repairs, upgraded electrics, a full respray, and a redesigned interior to meet modern food service standards.

Oliver Reece, manager at the Cotswold Motoring Museum, expressed his delight: "Bertie the Bedford has such a special story and we're delighted to welcome him to the museum. His restoration has been a real labour of love, bringing a much-loved piece of motoring history back to life."

Brum, based on an Austin 7 Chummy, remains one of the museum's most popular exhibits, having starred in the award-winning children's series from 1991 to 2002. The addition of Bertie enhances the museum's appeal, offering visitors a nostalgic glimpse into Britain's motoring heritage.
