The inaugural Bhutan International Travel Mart (BITM) is set to take place from 11 to 13 June 2026 in Thimphu, marking a significant milestone in Bhutan's tourism sector. This event, organised by the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, and the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO), aims to position Bhutan as a premier high-value destination on the global stage.
BITM is designed to attract influential international buyers, fostering high-value partnerships that benefit local communities and the national economy. The event will highlight Gelephu Mindfulness City, a visionary project intended to drive high-value tourism through mindfulness and sustainability.
The newly launched BITM website serves as a central hub for information, enabling international buyers and exhibitors to connect with Bhutanese tourism partners. The platform is expected to facilitate meaningful business-to-business interactions and showcase Bhutan's unique tourism offerings, which focus on regeneration, sustainability, and authenticity.
Damcho Rinzin, Director of the Department of Tourism Bhutan, emphasised the importance of BITM, stating, "It is a declaration of Bhutan’s leadership in leading a new era of mindful, regenerative, sustainable, and deeply transformative tourism on the global stage."
Kinley Gyeltshen, Chairman of ABTO, highlighted the significance of the BITM website, noting that it "creates a valuable platform for our partners to connect directly with international buyers here in Bhutan."
BITM is set to become an annual event, shaping the future of Bhutan's tourism engagement with the world
