The Bathing Carnival Bhutan (BCB) is set to make a splash from 6-8 November 2026 in Telung, Pemagatshel, as announced by the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Bhutan, in collaboration with the PemaGatshel Dzongkhag Administration. This year's event, themed “Celebrating the Joy of Water,” will follow the 108 Project in Gelephu Mindfulness City, aligning with the Royal initiative's significance.
Inspired by the Bhutanese tradition of Thruebab, or Blessed Rainy Day, the carnival aims to offer a unique blend of cultural, water-based, and adventure activities. The event will feature a variety of activities, including a tug of water war, mass bathing, and a laser light show, alongside traditional crafts demonstrations and local market explorations.
Singay Dorji, Governor of PemaGatshel, highlighted the carnival's evolution, stating, “Bathing Carnival Bhutan is evolving into something truly special, finding happiness and meaning in nature and celebration of togetherness.” The festival promises to showcase the natural beauty and community spirit of the region, inviting visitors to explore and experience the lesser-known parts of Bhutan.
The carnival will also include a Valley Fruit Feast and a final group dance, encapsulating the spirit of celebration. With its vibrant programme, the Bathing Carnival Bhutan offers a fresh perspective on the cultural richness and natural allure of eastern Bhutan, encouraging travellers to engage with local traditions and communities.
