BWH Hotels commits to African expansion

BWH Hotels has announced a renewed commitment to expanding its presence in Africa, as the company gears up for the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa, scheduled for 31 March to 1 April 2026. The hospitality giant, which includes WorldHotels, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and SureStay Hotels, is focusing on key African markets such as Ethiopia, Tanzania, Egypt, and Morocco, driven by rising investor confidence and promising tourism projections.

The company has identified Morocco and Egypt as the fastest-growing markets, with over 25 new pipeline properties signed in Morocco alone, and several projects underway in Egypt. Wytze van den Berg, VP International Operations at BWH Hotels, highlighted the importance of these markets, stating, “These two markets are rapidly accelerating and represent major growth engines for our brand family across Africa.”

BWH Hotels is also set to open four new properties this year, including two in Nigeria, one in Ethiopia, and one in Tanzania. The new hotels, such as the Best Western Premier McDons Skye Hotel in Owerri and the Best Western Plus Ambience Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, aim to cater to both business and leisure travellers with modern amenities and strategic locations.

As the company prepares for FHS Africa 2026, it aims to engage with investors and hospitality leaders to discuss sustainable growth and brand diversification. Van den Berg concluded, “Africa continues to be a priority region for BWH Hotels, and we look forward to contributing our insights and strengthening our partnerships across the continent.”
