TDM AWARDS - NOMINATE NOW!

Descendants of Charles Dickens, Ian and Gerald Dickens, are set to host a festive literary weekend on the Isle of Wight from 13 to 15 November 2026. The event, held at The Royal Hotel, will feature a dramatic one-man performance of "A Christmas Carol" by Gerald Dickens, offering guests a unique Victorian storytelling experience.

Following the success of its first event earlier this year, The Royal Hotel's Dickens House Party promises a blend of literature, history, and luxury. Guests will be welcomed with drinks and anecdotes from the Dickens family history, followed by dinner at The Royal's Geranium Restaurant. The weekend will also include a self-guided Charles Dickens trail through Ventnor and Bonchurch, showcasing the author's connections to the island.

Gerald Dickens' performance will be the highlight of the weekend, followed by a seven-course tasting menu crafted by Head Chef Jacob Gough. Attendees can conclude the evening with a glass of Smoking Bishop, a Victorian mulled wine mentioned in Dickens' works.

Matthew Brooks, Director of Marketing at The Royal Hotel, expressed excitement about the event, stating, "The response to our first Dickens House Party was extraordinary... Having Ian and Gerald Dickens here brings a genuine sense of connection to that history."

Prices for the two-night stay start at $715 (£585) per room, including return car ferry travel with Wightlink. For more details, visit royalhoteliow.co.uk
