Dubai's luxury real estate sector is being called upon to adopt wellness as a fundamental aspect of home design and construction, according to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI).

As global demand for healthier living environments rises, the GWI emphasises that health-supportive design should become a standard expectation rather than a luxury feature.

The GWI's latest report suggests that collaboration between planners, architects, public health leaders, and wellness professionals is crucial to creating homes and communities that support long-term health. Dubai-based luxury developer Keturah supports these findings, viewing the shift towards health-focused design as an opportunity for the industry to raise standards and reinforce Dubai's position as a leader in wellness real estate.

Talal M. Al Gaddah, CEO and Founder of Keturah, stated, “The next phase for the industry is collaboration rather than competition. We need planners, architects, public health leaders, and wellness professionals working together, not developers acting alone.”

The GWI projects that the global wellness real estate sector will surpass $1 trillion by 2029, marking a shift from wellness as a luxury aspiration to evidence-based infrastructure. The UAE, identified as one of the fastest-growing wellness real estate markets, has seen its market grow from $3.3 billion to $14.6 billion between 2017 and 2025.

Key trends in wellness real estate include primal architecture, neuroarchitecture, and the reduction of microplastics through natural materials. The GWI also highlights the importance of walkable communities in supporting mobility and wellbeing throughout life
