Edinburgh Airport has been named one of Europe's least stressful airports, ranking sixth in a study by travel booking platform Omio. The study analysed 50 of Europe's busiest airports, focusing on factors such as security procedures, flight cancellations, and overall passenger experience. Edinburgh's high ranking is attributed to its modern security measures, which allow passengers to carry larger quantities of liquids and keep electronics in their bags during screening, as well as its low flight cancellation rate of 1.65%.

Rome–Fiumicino Airport topped the list, praised for its efficient security processes and excellent public transport links. London–Heathrow, despite being Europe's busiest airport, also performed well with a cancellation rate below the European average, highlighting its operational reliability. The study noted that 18 of the 50 airports, including Heathrow and Edinburgh, have implemented new liquid regulations, easing the travel experience for passengers.

The research underscores the importance of efficient airport operations in reducing travel stress. Fast track services, available at varying costs, further enhance the passenger experience by minimising wait times. In the UK, these services range from $6 (approximately £5) at Belfast International to $21 (approximately £17) at Manchester Airport.

Overall, the study reveals that whilst many airports are adopting new technologies and processes to improve passenger experience, there is still room for improvement. As airports continue to evolve, travellers can expect more streamlined and stress-free journeys in the future
