Emirates is set to enhance its operations between Dubai and Colombo by introducing a second daily Airbus A350 service from 8 August. This move will replace the current Boeing 777 aircraft on the route, offering passengers expanded access to the airline's latest-generation aircraft and its popular Premium Economy cabin. The additional A350 service, flight EK648/649, will double the number of daily flights featuring Premium Economy, reinforcing Emirates' commitment to providing enhanced comfort and connectivity for travellers to and from Sri Lanka.

The A350 aircraft, known for its bright and airy cabins, offers more space and comfort across all classes. It features cutting-edge technology and entertainment options in multiple languages, including Tamil and Sinhala. The Premium Economy cabin, configured in a spacious 2-3-2 layout, includes cream leather seats with woodgrain finishes, a 13.3-inch personal screen, and a six-way adjustable headrest. Passengers in this class enjoy a curated service with a welcome drink, seasonal menus, and an exclusive amenity kit.

Emirates' A350 also boasts ultra-responsive 4K touchscreens, faster WiFi, and wider aisles, ensuring a comfortable travel experience. The introduction of the second daily A350 service builds on the successful debut of the aircraft on the Colombo route in March 2025. Emirates currently operates four daily flights to Colombo, marking 40 years of operations to the city this year, connecting it to nearly 140 destinations worldwide
