Etihad Airways has announced a significant expansion of its African network through a new partnership with Fastjet Zimbabwe. The agreement, signed in Harare on 7 July 2026, includes an interline partnership, codeshare agreement, and frequent flyer programme, allowing passengers to book travel across Zimbabwe and to Johannesburg, South Africa, on a single ticket. This collaboration aims to provide seamless connectivity for travellers, with sales commencing on 24 August 2026.

The partnership will enable Etihad passengers to connect to destinations such as Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, and Johannesburg via Fastjet Zimbabwe. This move comes ahead of Etihad's direct service launch between Abu Dhabi and Harare on 24 March 2027, further extending the airline's reach within Zimbabwe.

For Fastjet Zimbabwe, the agreement opens access to Etihad's global network, including destinations in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Fastjet passengers will also benefit from Etihad's Abu Dhabi Stopover programme, offering up to two complimentary hotel nights in the UAE capital.

Arik De, Etihad Airways Chief Revenue & Commercial Officer, emphasised the importance of Africa in Etihad's growth strategy, stating, “Africa is an important part of Etihad's growth, and partnerships like this one with Fastjet Zimbabwe are how we extend our reach and open up more of the continent for our guests.”

Fastjet Zimbabwe's CEO, Donahue Cortes, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its potential to improve connectivity and strengthen Zimbabwe's international links. Vivian Ruwuya, Fastjet's Chief Commercial Officer, added, “This partnership opens up the world for our customers in Zimbabwe.”

The partnership promises to enhance travel options for customers of both airlines, with travel available from 24 August 2026
