Bangkok is experiencing a significant rise in travel interest this November, driven by the upcoming Eurovision Asia Grand Final on 14 November. According to Agoda, a digital travel platform, the event marks the first-ever pan-Asian expansion of the Eurovision franchise, drawing finalists from 11 countries and attracting a potential regional audience of millions.
Thailand, as the host nation, is witnessing a 30% increase in domestic travel interest compared to last year. The country's representatives, DAOU Pittaya and Mang Piyatida, are expected to draw large crowds as they perform on home soil. Across Asia, searches for accommodation in Bangkok have risen by 14% year on year, with notable interest from Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and India.
Neighbouring countries are also showing increased interest, with Vietnam's travel searches to Bangkok more than doubling, up 105%, and India seeing a 43% rise. Malaysia recorded a 4% increase, continuing its strong travel relationship with Thailand.
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President at Agoda, stated, "As the Official Travel Partner of Eurovision Song Contest Asia, Agoda is proud to support this cultural milestone and first in the region."
For those planning to visit Bangkok for the Grand Final, the city offers diverse neighbourhoods to explore, from the bustling retail hub of Siam to the historic charm of the Old Town. With the event coinciding with Bangkok's cool season, it promises to be a vibrant time for visitors.
