Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand of MSC Group, has marked two milestones in its fleet expansion at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Italy. The events included the float-out of EXPLORA V and the coin ceremony for EXPLORA VI. Both ships are scheduled for completion by 2028.
The ceremonies brought together maritime industry leaders, including Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division, and Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys. Nash served as godmother for EXPLORA VI.
“EXPLORA VI marks an important milestone in our journey and represents how far we have come in bringing a new category of ultra-elegant ocean travel to life,” Nash said.
Both ships will run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and are designed to use renewable and next-generation fuels. EXPLORA VI will also feature fuel cell technology to improve energy generation efficiency.
These developments support MSC Group’s energy transition and sustainability strategy. They also reflect Explora Journeys’ focus on advanced marine technology and reducing emissions while expanding its luxury ocean travel offering.
