The Florentine Waterfront Hotel in Florence, Oregon, has been honoured with the 2026 Eugene Cascades & Coast Destination Award. Announced on 16 July 2026 during the Visitor Industry Celebration hosted by Travel Lane County, the award acknowledges the hotel's significant role in enhancing local tourism infrastructure following its extensive restoration.
The boutique hotel, situated on Siltcoos Lake, underwent a comprehensive renovation after being acquired in November 2024. Owners Robin Singh and Sharan Kaur spearheaded a six-month project to restore the 1940s-era property, which had been abandoned. The restoration included modernising all 10 cabins and preserving the natural landscape, culminating in a full reopening in June 2025. Since then, the hotel has maintained an average occupancy rate of 78%.
Samara Phelps, President and CEO of Travel Lane County, praised the hotel's transformation, stating, "A hotel brought back to life—that's the work that makes a destination." The award highlights the hotel's success in revitalising a historic site whilst integrating it into the local ecosystem.
The hotel offers a unique retreat, with cabins designed to maximise views of Siltcoos Lake and its surrounding natural beauty. Guests can enjoy birdwatching, including sightings of a bald eagle's nest, and experience the shifting coastal fog and mist over nearby mountains.
The Florentine Waterfront Hotel's commitment to sustainable hospitality and its contribution to the local tourism landscape have set a benchmark for future developments in the region
