flydubai has announced the launch of direct flights to Benghazi, Libya, marking a significant expansion of its network in Africa. Starting 17 June 2026, the Dubai-based airline will operate three weekly flights from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport to Benghazi Benina International Airport. This makes flydubai the first UAE carrier to offer direct services between these two cities.
The new route aims to enhance connectivity between the UAE and Libya, providing passengers from Benghazi with seamless access to flydubai’s extensive network through Dubai's aviation hub. Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, stated, “The launch of our new operations to Libya marks another milestone in our network expansion strategy and reinforces our commitment to opening underserved markets.”
With the addition of Benghazi, flydubai's network in East and North Africa now includes 13 destinations, supporting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. The airline recently expanded its operations in Kenya and Egypt, and plans to grow its network to over 100 destinations by summer.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, highlighted Libya's potential, saying, “Libya is an important market with strong business and trade potential, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board.”
The new service is part of the flydubai and Emirates codeshare partnership, offering passengers smoother itineraries and access to a combined network. Return fares from Dubai to Benghazi start at $2,860 (AED 10,500) for Business Class and $1,225 (AED 4,500) for Economy Class
