Travel has always been more than a destination. It is about the people we meet, the places that stay with us and the stories we bring home. For journalist Siriporn Sachamuneewongse, nearly two decades of following those stories now lead to a new chapter with Travel Daily Media (TDM), where she has been appointed Editor, joining our ever-expanding Editorial team, which includes Gary, Chris, Marga, Kanchan, Charmaine, Mark, Alastair and Megha.
Based in Bangkok, Siriporn brings close to 20 years of experience across journalism, communications and editorial work. Since beginning her career in 2005, she has written across business, travel, tourism and public-sector developments, including her work with the Bangkok Post, international organisations and a range of editorial and communications roles.
In her new role, Siriporn will oversee breaking news, interviews and features for TDM’s global audience, with a focus on the people, places, ideas and innovations redefining the travel industry.
“Travel is one of the few industries where every story begins with a human being — someone going somewhere, discovering something, building something or simply looking at the world differently,” said Siriporn. “That is what makes travel journalism so exciting to me. Behind every destination, hotel, airline, trend or new development, there is a story worth telling.”
She added: “I’m delighted to join Travel Daily Media and to have the opportunity to tell those stories for a global audience. I want our coverage to be informed and insightful, stories that give readers a reason to pause, think, dream and perhaps book the next flight.”
With travel evolving at an extraordinary pace, from the rise of new destinations and experiences to technology, sustainability, changing traveller expectations and the growing influence of Asia, Siriporn sees an opportunity for travel journalism to go beyond simply writing about where people are going.
“The most interesting travel stories today are not only about where we go, but why we go, how we travel and what travel means to the communities we visit,” she said. “There is so much happening across Asia and around the world, and I’m looking forward to bringing those perspectives to TDM — one conversation, one destination and one story at a time.”
Siriporn holds an MBA from the Sasin School of Management of Chulalongkorn University and a BBA in International Business from Mahidol University International College (MUIC). She also attended the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2009.
A Thai national based in Bangkok, Siriporn is fluent in English and Thai and brings a distinctly Southeast Asian perspective to the global travel conversation.
