Hilton has announced the signing of its first Motto by Hilton hotel in Japan, set to open in Kyoto in 2029. This new venture, in partnership with Heiwa Real Estate Co., will see the establishment of the Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, featuring 108 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, and a lounge with an open terrace. The hotel will be managed by Hilton and is strategically located near Shijo and Karasuma stations, providing easy access to Kyoto's renowned attractions such as Nishiki Market, Gion, and Higashiyama.
The introduction of Motto by Hilton in Kyoto marks a significant expansion of Hilton's lifestyle portfolio in Japan, adding to its existing presence in the city. Hilton has steadily grown its footprint in Kyoto since the opening of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2021, with five hotels launched over the past five years. The upcoming Curio Collection by Hilton property and the new Motto by Hilton will bring Hilton's total number of hotels in Kyoto to seven.
Hirohisa Fujimoto, Hilton's vice president of Development for Japan and Micronesia, stated, “The debut of Motto in Kyoto reflects our continued commitment to one of Hilton's key growth markets.” The hotel aims to offer a flexible stay experience catering to diverse travellers, from families to solo explorers.
Kiyoyuki Tsuchimoto, CEO of Heiwa Real Estate Co., expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the partnership with Hilton as part of their long-term vision, WAY2040, to expand their hotel business. The Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma will also be part of the Hilton Honours loyalty programme, offering members exclusive benefits.
