Hong Kong city view at sunset. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has appointed Lydia Gibbs as Senior Executive, Trade Marketing, to enhance its UK trade team. This strategic move aims to bolster support for travel agents, tour operators, and partners promoting Hong Kong to British travellers. Gibbs, previously with MMGY Global, will operate from HKTB's London office, reporting to Joëlle Watkins, Senior Manager, Trade Marketing, UK & Northern Europe.
Gibbs' role will involve spearheading inspiring campaigns, conducting hands-on training, and organising familiarisation trips to showcase Hong Kong's diverse offerings. Her appointment coincides with a 13.1% increase in UK arrivals in the first half of 2026, as HKTB seeks to enhance both the value and duration of visits.
Anette Wendel-Menke, Director Europe at HKTB, stated, "With Lydia on board, we are even better placed to deliver our trade strategy: driving increased visitor arrivals, developing new and diversified products, and building greater awareness of, and confidence in selling, Hong Kong." This aligns with HKTB's ongoing 'Only in Hong Kong' campaign, aiming to boost UK visitor numbers and value.
The HKTB, a government-subvented body, operates 15 offices globally, working to maximise tourism's social and economic contributions to Hong Kong. The board collaborates with the government and industry partners to promote Hong Kong as a world-class destination.
