For the first time, Hualien County Government has partnered with the globally popular franchise 'One Piece' to create a summer event that promises a unique adventure for visitors. The highlight of this collaboration is the 15-metre-long Thousand Sunny ship, which has set sail on Liyu Lake in Shoufeng Township, marking a significant attraction for the event.
The event features six new character installations, each paired with a local Hualien landmark. Usopp is stationed at Hualien Railway Station, symbolising the start of a new journey. Zoro can be found at the century-old General's House, Chiang Chün Fu, blending Japanese architecture with cultural heritage. Luffy is at Dongdamen Night Market, a hub for local delicacies, whilst Sanji is at Sunrise Square, showcasing Hualien's marine culture. Nami is located at Zhikaxuan Forest Park, offering a natural retreat, and Chopper is at Liyu Lake, the main venue known for its scenic beauty.
Running until 20 August, the event includes a stamp rally mission and evening entertainment such as water and light shows, fireworks, and fire dance performances. According to the Hualien County Government, these activities aim to enhance the tourism experience by combining local culture with the beloved 'One Piece' characters, offering both sightseeing and therapeutic experiences
