Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality firm, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Mohali, Punjab. This greenfield project aims to capitalise on Mohali's growth as a significant IT and commercial centre, as well as its rising popularity for weddings and social events.
The upcoming 225-key Taj Mohali will offer guests uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery. It will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a speciality restaurant, catering to diverse culinary preferences. Leisure and wellness amenities will include a swimming pool, gym, health club, and the signature J Wellness Circle. The hotel will also boast over 26,000 square feet of banqueting space, making it the largest event venue in the region, ideal for weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, highlighted Mohali's potential, stating, “Mohali’s emergence as a thriving IT and commercial centre is a key growth market in Punjab. This, coupled with the state’s increasing appeal as a preferred destination for weddings and social events, aligns with our strategy to expand in such high-potential markets.”
With this addition, IHCL will have 14 hotels in Punjab, including seven under development. Mohali, known for its modern infrastructure, hosts numerous IT companies, educational institutions, and sports facilities, further enhancing its appeal as a strategic location for IHCL's expansion.
