Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of Tree of Life Kanadukathan in Chettinad, Tamil Nadu. This brownfield project involves transforming an existing heritage-style Chettiar property into a luxury hotel. The initiative aims to tap into Chettinad's rich architectural and cultural heritage, attracting travellers seeking immersive experiences.

The 20-key Tree of Life Kanadukathan will feature an all-day dining restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, spa, and fully-equipped gym. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, stated, “Chettinad’s rich architecture and cultural legacy continues to attract travellers seeking immersive experiences. Anchored in authenticity and a deep sense of place, Tree of Life brings its distinctive, experience-led approach to this setting.”

The project is a collaboration with AMPA Group, a trusted business family in Chennai with interests in finance, retail, real estate, hospitality, and information technology. Ampa Palaniappan, Managing Director of AMPA Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “We are pleased to partner with IHCL to restore and reimagine a historic Chettiar property. This project aims to contribute to the region’s growing tourism ecosystem.”

Kanadukathan in Chettinad is known for its cultural festivals, such as the Chettinad Heritage Festival, Aadi Perukku, and Navaratri. With this addition, IHCL will have 33 hotels in Tamil Nadu, including 14 under development, further solidifying its presence in the region
