The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) has launched the Global AI Hospitality Education Council (GAIHEC), the world's first international council focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into hospitality education. Announced on World AI Day, GAIHEC unites educators, universities, and industry leaders from over 60 countries to shape the future of AI in hospitality, culinary arts, and tourism education.

GAIHEC aims to develop responsible and ethical AI education, marking a significant milestone in IIHM's efforts to blend technology with hospitality education. This initiative follows IIHM's previous projects, such as NamAIste and the IIHM Hospitality GPT, which were designed to enhance hospitality education through AI. The council will establish curriculum standards, ethical guidelines, and cross-border academic partnerships.

Dr Suborno Bose, Founder and Chief Mentor of IIHM, emphasised that AI is not meant to replace hospitality but to enhance it. "Through GAIHEC, we are bringing together the world's leading educators and industry experts to ensure that AI becomes a force for innovation whilst strengthening the human values that define our profession," he stated.

The council's philosophy, "HighTech Higher Touch," underscores the belief that whilst AI will influence various aspects of hospitality, genuine hospitality will continue to be defined by human interaction and emotional intelligence. Prof David Foskett, Chairman of the International Hospitality Council UK, remarked, "Hospitality will always remain a human business because the greatest intelligence is emotional intelligence."

GAIHEC's launch also included the adoption of the GAIHEC Manifesto, opening membership to global hospitality institutions and organisations. The council's work will be guided by principles such as "Human First AI Empowered" and "Collaboration Over Competition." The initiative will culminate in the signing of the GAIHEC Global Charter during the Young Chef Olympiad on 8 February 2027, establishing an internationally accepted framework for AI integration in hospitality education
