GCS Recruitment is searching for an Oracle Database Administrator to work with one of the leading software companies in Malta.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out ongoing tuning of the database instances
- Planning and implementing backup, recovery and enforcing security of the Oracle database
- Controlling migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle
- Putting standards in place, ensuring that all application design and code is produced up to standard
- Performing reviews on the designs and codes regularly
- Evaluating releases of Oracle and its tools, and third-party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate
- Providing technical support to application development teams
- Enforcing and maintaining database constraints to ensure integrity of the database
- Administering all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
- Assisting with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
- Troubleshooting with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
- Creating new database users as required
- Managing sharing of resources amongst applications
Requirements:
- Previous experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle would be considered a strong asset
- Good knowledge of the operating systems and physical database design
- Proficiency with Oracle; backup, recovery scenarios, tools, security, data integrity etc.
- A sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning
- Great communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to provide a strategic database direction for the organisation
- Strong organisational skills including time management and analytical skills
- Ability to multitask
- Team player
