Loganair, the UK's leading regional airline, has opened applications for its 2026 GreenSkies Community Fund, which aims to support sustainability projects across the UK. Since its inception in 2021, the fund has distributed over £100,000 to 24 projects, with applications for the upcoming round closing on 7 May.
The GreenSkies Community Fund is designed to aid charities, community groups, and small businesses in achieving their sustainability objectives. Last year's beneficiaries included Murtle Garden in Aberdeen, which received £5,000 for a polytunnel to aid young people with learning disabilities, and Shed the Light in Derry/Londonderry, which was awarded £5,000 for a solar generator to enhance renewable energy workshops.
Rebecca Borresen, director of safety and sustainability at Loganair, expressed pride in the fund's impact, stating: “Through our GreenSkies Community Fund, we’re proud to support the organisations and individuals taking practical steps to make their communities more sustainable.”
The fund is part of Loganair's broader environmental strategy, which includes commitments to carbon offsetting and sustainable aviation technologies, aiming for net zero by 2040. It is financed through a mandatory carbon offsetting charge on every Loganair flight, with proceeds directed towards accredited offsetting projects and community initiatives.
Organisations interested in applying can find more information and submit their applications on Loganair's website
