Travel Experts, a leading host agency with over 600 independent advisers, has reported a significant increase in luxury travel bookings for the first half of 2026. According to a survey conducted among its US affiliates, 85% of advisers experienced a substantial rise in business, with only 7% reporting a slow start that has since improved.
The survey revealed that 49% of advisers anticipate strong bookings for the remainder of 2026, whilst 25% already have bookings for 2027 and 2028. Despite global challenges such as foreign conflicts and rising fuel prices, the luxury travel market continues to demonstrate resilience. Sharon Fake, Executive Director for Travel Experts, noted, "Our advisers have traditionally been a bellwether for predicting how the luxury travel business was going to flow."
Europe remains the top destination for luxury travellers, with cruising—both ocean and river—being a popular choice. The Caribbean and domestic travel have also gained traction, as some clients prefer to stay closer to home due to global uncertainties. Destinations like Africa, South America, Australia, and New Zealand are seeing robust growth, whilst Italy, Ireland, and Japan continue to be favourites.
Advisers like Michelle Orr from Master Travel reported an 18% increase in sales year-to-date, whilst Marisa DeSalvio from DeSalvio Travel surpassed her entire 2025 sales volume by July. The trend of last-minute bookings is also on the rise, with clients opting for premium and luxury experiences on shorter timelines.
As the luxury travel market adapts to changing client preferences, multigenerational travel and personalised experiences are becoming increasingly popular. Megan Mack from Heirloom Adventures highlighted that clients are prioritising quality over quantity, investing in private guides and exclusive experiences
