Maharashtra Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jochen Witt Consulting (JWC GmbH), a leading consultancy in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) sector. This collaboration aims to position Maharashtra as a premier destination for international business events. The MoU was signed on 18 June in Mumbai, with key figures from both the Maharashtra government and JWC GmbH present.

The Maharashtra Convention Bureau (MCB), established by Maharashtra Tourism, seeks to attract high-profile international conventions and exhibitions to Mumbai and other major cities. "We have always believed that Maharashtra has what it takes, be it the infrastructure, the talent, and the ambition," said Sanjay Khandare, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism), Government of Maharashtra. "With JWC's guidance, we are now better equipped than ever to translate that potential into tangible outcomes for our economy and our people."

JWC GmbH, headquartered in Cologne, Germany, brings extensive experience in strategy development, event bidding, and stakeholder engagement. This partnership provides Maharashtra with access to JWC's international networks and expertise, enhancing its ability to compete with established convention destinations globally. Jochen Witt, Chairman and Partner of JWC GmbH, expressed confidence in Maharashtra's potential, stating, "Few markets combine such strong economic growth, entrepreneurial dynamism, government support, and a rapidly expanding business events ecosystem."

The initiative is expected to drive economic growth by creating jobs, increasing tourism revenues, and supporting sustainable development across the state. With this agreement, Maharashtra reaffirms its commitment to becoming a leading destination for global business events
