Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has announced significant expansions in its airline services, including the resumption of Malaysia Airlines flights to Busan from December 2026 and new direct services by Firefly to Kunming. These developments are part of MAG's Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and in-flight dining experiences.

Malaysia Airlines will reconnect Kuala Lumpur with Busan, South Korea, offering four weekly flights with its Boeing 737-8 aircraft. This move marks the airline's return to Busan after nearly three decades, providing the only non-stop service between the two cities. Additionally, Malaysia Airlines plans to increase flight frequencies to Fukuoka, Brisbane, and Surabaya, responding to rising travel demand.

Firefly, a sister airline, will introduce direct flights to Kunming, China, marking its entry into the Chinese market. This expansion will complement Malaysia Airlines' existing routes in China, offering travellers access to Kunming's scenic and cultural attractions.

In tandem with these network expansions, MAG is enhancing its in-flight dining capabilities. MAG Culinary Solutions is set to open a new catering facility near Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Q4 2028, doubling its current meal production capacity. This initiative follows the insourcing of catering operations in 2023, which has already improved customer satisfaction and on-time performance.

These strategic moves aim to strengthen Kuala Lumpur's position as a regional aviation hub and support Malaysia Airlines' goal of becoming a top global airline by 2030. Introductory fares for the new Busan route are available, with economy and business class options
