Malaysia is spotlighting its ancient rainforests as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative, aiming to boost eco-tourism by showcasing seven unique rainforest and national park destinations. These rainforests, which have survived over 130 million years, are home to 15,000 species of flowering plants and diverse wildlife, making them a significant natural treasure.

To celebrate World Rainforest Day, redBus has curated an eco-tourism journey across Malaysia, highlighting destinations accessible by bus. This initiative not only offers adventure but also promotes sustainable travel, as buses produce significantly lower carbon emissions compared to cars.

The journey begins at Penang National Park, the world's smallest national park, known for its unique ecosystems and rare meromictic lake. Visitors can explore the Royal Belum State Park, a sanctuary for the Malayan Tiger and Asian Elephant, and Taman Negara National Park, home to the world's longest Canopy Walkway.

Endau-Rompin National Park offers rugged exploration with ancient rock formations, whilst Bako National Park in Sarawak showcases varied ecosystems and the famous Proboscis monkeys. Lambir Hills National Park, renowned for its tree diversity, and Danum Valley Conservation Area, a pristine ecosystem in Borneo, complete the trail.

This eco-tourism route not only provides a unique travel experience but also supports conservation efforts and sustainable tourism practices. As Malaysia gears up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, these rainforest adventures promise endless discoveries and a deeper connection with nature
