Merlin Entertainments, the second-largest theme park operator in the world, announced that it plans to build Legoland Sichuan in China, the largest Legoland in the world. The company has joined forces with Global Zhongjun to build and operate a full-scale Legoland Resort in Sichuan Province of western China.
Scheduled to open by 2023, Legoland Sichuan will also have two highly-themed Legoland Hotels, with approximately 500 rooms. Legoland Sichuan will be Merlin’s eleventh Legoland Park. Legoland New York is set to open in 2020, and Legoland Korea is scheduled for 2022.
Merlin is in discussions to open more Legoland Resorts in China as well.
