MSIG Insurance Malaysia Bhd, the country's third-largest fire insurer, has reinforced its commitment to community resilience by partnering with EPIC Homes to support the Orang Asli community. This collaboration, ongoing since 2018, combines housing initiatives with fire insurance protection to offer greater financial security to these indigenous families.
This year, MSIG Malaysia aided Orang Asli families in Simpang Pulai by completing two new homes. In July, 31 employees, including CEO Ang Yien Chia, worked alongside EPIC Homes volunteers to finish the first house. A second build followed in September with 25 employees participating. These efforts aim to provide improved living conditions and stability for the families involved.
Ang Yien Chia highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, "We aim to give Orang Asli homeowners greater confidence that they have financial support should unforeseen events occur." She cited a 2025 incident where insurance coverage helped repair a storm-damaged home, underscoring the role of insurance in community recovery.
Since the partnership began, MSIG Malaysia has contributed to the protection of over 300 homes. John-Son Oei, CEO of EPIC Homes, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting that the initiative provides "safe and dignified housing" and emphasises long-term resilience.
MSIG Malaysia's collaboration with EPIC Homes reflects its dedication to inclusive, community-empowering initiatives, combining funding, volunteerism, and insurance to strengthen the resilience of underserved communities
