Three North American crews are set to participate in the prestigious 47th Rolex Middle Sea Race, commencing on 17 October 2026 from Valletta’s Grand Harbour in Malta. The event, renowned for its challenging 606 nautical mile course, will feature 105 entries from around the globe, including teams from Italy, Finland, Germany, Uruguay, and Argentina.

The race, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, is known for its demanding conditions and scenic route, which takes competitors through the Eastern coast of Sicily, the Strait of Messina, and around the Aeolian Islands, before returning to Malta. Among the North American participants, the US entries include Dinzer Doo from Utah, skippered by Johannes Schwarz, and Red Ruby from Washington, co-skippered by Christina and Justin Wolfe.

Canada's entry, Sassafras, is a Swan 47 owned and skippered by Michael Cullen. Cullen, whose crew hails from Toronto and includes two Americans from Detroit, expressed excitement about the race, stating, “We are very excited to participate in such a terrific event.” Sassafras has previously competed in notable races such as the Newport Bermuda and the Caribbean 600.
