Oceania Cruises has celebrated a significant milestone with the float-out of its latest vessel, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. This marks the first ship in the new Sonata Class, featuring 695 rooms and suites, and is set to debut in August 2027. The ship will now undergo interior fitting at the berth.

The Sonata Class is a new generation of small-ship luxury, offering more space, enhanced suite accommodations, and elevated culinary experiences. Oceania Sonata will be followed by Oceania Arietta in 2029, with three more ships planned for 2032, 2035, and 2037.

Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, expressed excitement, stating, “The float out of Oceania Sonata is an incredibly exciting moment as we move one step closer to welcoming our first guests aboard next August.”

At approximately 86,000 gross tonnes, Oceania Sonata is nearly 30% larger than its predecessor, Oceania Allura, yet adds only 90 more accommodations, ensuring spaciousness and comfort. The ship will feature a serene adults-only environment with expansive public spaces and thoughtfully designed guest suites.

Dining aboard will include 13 venues, with new culinary concepts such as La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen.

Oceania Sonata will embark on its inaugural season from August 2027 to April 2028, visiting over 90 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas.

Notable voyages include a 14-day Mediterranean journey and a 16-day Panama Canal itinerary.
