PGA TOUR Champions is set to make its inaugural appearance in Portugal with the Portugal Invitational, a $3 million tournament scheduled from 31 July to 2 August 2026. The event will take place at The Els Club Vilamoura, marking the first individual stroke play tournament organised by the PGA TOUR in the country.
The tournament is part of a five-year partnership involving PGA TOUR Champions, Arrow Global Group, Turismo de Portugal, and Turismo do Algarve. It will feature 78 players, including stars from the PGA TOUR Champions, World Golf Hall of Fame members, and Legends Tour players. Positioned between the ISPS Handa Senior Open and the Staysure Senior PGA Championship, the event enriches the European summer golf schedule.
The Els Club Vilamoura, redesigned by four-time major champion Ernie Els, previously hosted the Portugal Masters on the DP World Tour. "Whenever my team designs a golf course, we always consider its potential to stage professional tournaments," Els remarked, highlighting the course's readiness for elite competitions.
Miller Brady, President of PGA TOUR Champions, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Our Tour showcases some of the greatest names in golf and we know fans across Portugal and Europe will relish the opportunity to see these players compete on one of the region's premier golf courses."
