The resort’s comprehensive renovation of premium villas and rooms combined guest comfort, sustainability initiatives, and stronger commercial performance.
Ramada Resort by Wyndham Khao Lak has been named Hotel Renovation of the Year - Thailand at the Travel Daily Media Travel Trade Excellence Awards 2026 - Thailand, recognising the resort’s comprehensive renovation of its premium accommodation.
Completed in 2025, the project covered the resort’s Private Pool Villas, Oceanfront Villas, Deluxe Jet Tub Rooms and Deluxe Jet Tub Lanai Rooms. More than a refresh of the existing spaces, the renovation was designed to strengthen the resort’s premium accommodation offering whilst responding to the evolving needs of leisure travellers.
Repositioning the resort’s premium stays
The renovation took a tailored approach to each accommodation category, with the design reflecting the distinct appeal of each villa type.
The 65-square-metre Oceanfront Villas were transformed into more intimate beachfront spaces with private terraces, sun loungers, contemporary interiors, and uninterrupted views of the Andaman Sea.
The 100-square-metre Private Pool Villas were redesigned as secluded tropical retreats, featuring private pools, shaded outdoor areas, outdoor showers, spacious bathrooms, and enhanced privacy.
Rather than applying a single design concept across both categories, the renovation focused on what makes each accommodation type distinctive. The Private Pool Villas emphasise privacy and personal space, whilst the Oceanfront Villas place guests closer to the beach and sea.
Sustainability was also incorporated from the planning stage. The resort reviewed its lighting, water systems, in-room amenities, and utility infrastructure to reduce water and electricity consumption whilst maintaining the level of quality expected from its premium accommodation.
These upgrades support Ramada Resort by Wyndham Khao Lak’s wider Green Hotel commitment and form part of the resort’s ongoing efforts to operate more responsibly.
Stronger commercial and guest results
The renovation has also delivered measurable commercial results. Combined villa room revenue year-on-year increased by 9.4% for the Oceanfront Villas and 17.7% for the Private Pool Villas during the six months from November 2025 to April 2026, following the reopening of the renovated villas. This growth was achieved despite a 6.9% decline in occupied villa nights across both villa categories, demonstrating that the renovated accommodation was able to achieve stronger rates and revenue with fewer occupied nights.
Guest feedback also improved following the renovation. Guestroom satisfaction increased by 5.1% to 9.54 out of 10, whilst overall guest satisfaction reached 9.26 out of 10, an increase of approximately 1.3% year-on-year.
Ratings for property appearance, cleanliness, service, and Wyndham Rewards Member Satisfaction also recorded improvements, highlighting the broader impact of the renovation on the guest experience.
The Hotel Renovation of the Year - Thailand recognition highlights how Ramada Resort by Wyndham Khao Lak has used renovation as an opportunity not only to enhance its premium accommodation, but also to improve guest satisfaction, strengthen commercial performance and support more responsible hotel operations.
