Red Sea Global (RSG) has successfully completed the modernisation of Al Wajh International Airport in northwest Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the company's expanded infrastructure development mandate. The airport, now capable of handling 500,000 passengers annually, up from 100,000, will soon commence international flights, enhancing connectivity for the region.
The upgraded airport, which accommodates commercial aeroplanes like the Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 families, now supports three weekly flights from Riyadh and two from Jeddah, operated by Saudia. This development is expected to bolster regional connectivity, public service, and national economic growth.
John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG, emphasised the broader impact of the project, stating, “This project is about far more than an airport terminal. It's about creating a gateway that connects people, supports economic growth, and opens new opportunities for communities across the region.”

The renovation also introduces enhanced passenger facilities, including two premium lounges, coffee shops, and car rental services. The airport's design draws inspiration from the local architecture of Al Wajh and the Tabuk coastline, reflecting the region's authentic character.
Abdulaziz Al-Abdan, Executive Director of Aviation and Airport Operations at RSG, highlighted the airport's readiness for future growth, noting, “The airport has been upgraded to accommodate larger aeroplanes and significantly higher passenger volumes, creating the capacity needed to support future growth.”
As a key gateway to the luxury wellness destination AMAALA, located just 45 minutes away, the airport is set to play a crucial role in the region's tourism and economic landscape
