Etihad Airways’ popular A380 made a stylish debut at Singapore Changi Airport on Sunday, 2 February, marking the first time the airline has flown its Big Bird to Singapore. The milestone further enhances the travel experience between the UAE and the Asian powerhouse. The world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, brings Etihad's celebrated inflight features to the Singapore route, including The Residence – the world’s only three-room suite in the sky. The upper deck also features The Lobby, an exclusive lounge area for First and Business class guests. Air Astana continues fleet expansion with new Airbus A320neo
Air Astana’s new Airbus A320neo aircraft arrived in Almaty yesterday, 29th January from the Airbus manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France. The newly delivered aircraft is the tenth Airbus A320neo to enter the Air Astana Group fleet, which currently comprises 58 aircraft, predominantly from the Airbus family. The aircraft features a two-class cabin configuration, with 16 business class seats and 132 economy class seats. Despite global challenges in the aviation industry and disruptions in global supply chains, Air Astana continues to successfully expand its fleet with new aircraft from leading global manufacturers. This fleet expansion aligns with Air Astana’s development strategy, which focuses on expanding its network, improving operational efficiency, and achieving sustainable growth.
THAI brings its Royal Silk Class aboard the Airbus A320
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) hosted an event at its Maintenance Hangar at Suvarnabhumi Airport to showcase its new Royal Silk Class cabin aboard the Airbus A320 aircraft, offering an exclusive experience for passengers. Titled THAI A320: Elevating Travel Experience, the event was attended by the airline’s chairman of the plan administrator Piyasvasti Amranand, plan administrator Chansin Treenuchagron, chief executive Chai Eamsiri, THAI Chief Executive Officer, chief technical officer Cherdphan Chotikhun, and chief commercial officer Korakot Chatasingha, along with other members of senior management Chatasingha said at the event: "THAI remains committed to implementing our Commercial Excellence strategy to achieve sustainable revenue and profitability. In 2024, we successfully executed our strategy under the 'One THAI One Fly' campaign, which effectively integrated Thai Smile Airways into the THAI brand. This has led to significant improvements in revenue, aircraft utilization, and the creation of a seamless travel experience for our passengers.” He added that the new Royal Silk Class aboard the A320 aircraft demonstrates THAI's ongoing commitment in product and service development, in alignment with its customer-centric approach to enhance passenger travel experience. Chatasingha concluded by saying: “This upgrade reflects our dedication as Thailand's flag carrier to set new standards in air travel, particularly for short-haul routes. We're offering comprehensive full-service features, including spacious seats designed for maximum comfort, state-of-the-art entertainment systems, premium dining, and exclusive privileges that will make every flight memorable, both domestic and international. The service, launched this January, will be available in all 20 aircraft by the second quarter of this year." What business class flyers can expect on board the A320 The new Royal Silk Class cabin features 12 exclusive seats (currently available on selected flights) arranged in a 2-2 configuration across the first three rows. Each meticulously designed seat offers a spacious personal area with adjustable headrests and legrests for enhanced comfort. The seats are equipped with fold-away tray tables for dining and personal device use, complemented by conveniently positioned beverage holders near the armrests. Another distinctive feature of THAI's A320 aircraft is the wireless entertainment system , giving it the distinction of being the first airline in Thailand to offer wireless entertainment in every seat on domestic routes, enabling passengers to enjoy diverse content on their personal devices. Royal Silk Class passengers are also treated with gourmet meals and a curated beverage selection. On flights longer than 3.5 hours, they will be offered exclusive amenity kits designed by Jim Thompson, available in 12 unique designs that elegantly capture Thai heritage. Cebu Pacific ends 2024 with a new Airbus A321neo
Cebu Pacific ended 2024 on a high as it received a new Airbus A321neo, its 17th delivery for 2024. This latest acquisition arrived on 24th December and boosts Cebu Pacific’s position as one of the leading players in Philippine aviation. The arrival of the 236-seater aircraft brought CEB’s commercial fleet to 91, and served as a perfect cap for a year that saw enhanced operational capacity and an expanded route network. Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao remarked: “The arrival of this new aircraft reinforces our readiness to meet the rising travel demand and our commitment to enhancing connectivity for our passengers in 2025 and beyond.” At present, Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets globally, comprising 10 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 26 Airbus A321s and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft. This diverse fleet enables the airline to maintain the widest network coverage in the Philippines. A more sustainable option The Airbus NEO (New Engine Option) series is known for its environmental efficiency, burning 15 percent less fuel and generating lower noise levels compared to previous models. This translates into a significant reduction in carbon emissions that is in alignment with the airline’s sustainability goals. Last 2nd October, Cebu Pacific announced a historic agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, for up to 152 A321neo aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. Valued at approximately US$24 billion at list prices, the deal was hailed as the largest aircraft acquisition in Philippine aviation history.
Emirates to fly to Kuwait and Bahrain with the Airbus A350-900
With a second Airbus A350 on its way to Emirates, has decided to expand the sphere of the types of operation, with two Middle-Eastern routes to use the equipment. Emirates is bringing forward the deployment of its Airbus A350 to Kuwait and Bahrain. Services will start 8th of January, making them the second and third destinations to be served by the airline’s newest aircraft. Emirates will operate its Airbus A350 on the following services to Kuwait and Bahrain: Kuwait: The Emirates A350 will operate on EK853 and EK854. EK 853 departs Dubai at 01:25, arriving in Kuwait at 02:15. The return flight, EK 854 leaves Kuwait at 03:40hrs, arriving in Dubai at 06:25hrs. Bahrain: The Emirates A350 will operate on two of the three daily flights to the Kingdom – EK837/838, and EK839/840. EK 837 departs Dubai at 08:20, arriving in Bahrain at 08:40. The return flight, EK 838, departs Bahrain at 10:00, arriving back in Dubai at 12:15h. The second flight operated by the Airbus A350, EK 839, takes off at 16:00, arriving in Bahrain at 16:20. EK 840 leaves Bahrain at 17:45, arriving back to Dubai at 20:00. Emirates Airbus A350-900s operate in a three-class configuration, 32 Business Class lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 21 Premium Economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, and 259 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 arrangement, for a total of 312 seats. With a second Airbus A350 on its way to Emirates, the airline has decided to expand the sphere of the types of operation, with two Middle-Eastern routes to use the equipment. The aircraft features next-generation passenger experience facilities with Thales Avant Up installed to provide Inflight entertainment, whilst inflight wifi is enabled with ViaSat’s Global Express Ka connectivity. Qatar Airways to utilize Airbus A350 on multiple routes
Doha-based airline has a fleet of 58 Airbus A350 aircraft, including 34 A350-900s and 23 A350-1000s. Doha (DOH) – London Gatwick (LGW) Qatar Airways will implement fleet adjustments on its Doha (DOH) – London Gatwick (LGW) service during the first quarter of 2025. The airline deploys Airbus A350-900 aircraft on three of its ten weekly flights from February 2 to March 28, 2025, replacing the Boeing 787-8. The modified Gatwick schedule introduces A350-900 operations on flight QR327, departing Doha at 0805 and arriving in London at 1235 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The remaining Boeing 787-8 services maintain their existing schedule, with QR329 departing Doha at 0135. Return flight QR330 operates at varying departure times from Gatwick, ranging from 0840 to 0950, while QR328 departs at 1405 utilizing the A350-900. Doha (DOH) – Manila (MNL) For the Northern Summer 2025 season, Qatar Airways transitions its Doha – Manila (MNL) route QR928/929 from Boeing 777-300ER to Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, effective March 30, 2025. Flight QR928 departs Doha at 0800, arriving in Manila at 2220, while the return service QR929 leaves Manila at 2350, reaching Doha at 0415 the following day. The airline maintains Boeing 777-300ER operations on its additional Manila frequencies, including QR932 departing Doha at 0210, QR934 at 1805, and return services QR935 and QR933 departing Manila at 0955 and 1835 respectively. Doha (DOH) – Hong Kong (HKG) Qatar Airways will implement fleet modifications on its Doha (DOH) – Hong Kong (HKG) service starting January 2025. The airline deploys Airbus A350-900 aircraft on one of its two daily QR816/815 frequencies from January 1 to March 29, 2025. Flight QR816 operates the A350-900 service, departing Doha at 0905 and arriving in Hong Kong at 2130. The return flight QR815 departs Hong Kong at 0025, reaching Doha at 0450. The second daily frequency maintains Boeing 777-300ER operations, with QR818 departing Doha at 0235 and QR817 departing Hong Kong at 1805. Doha – Geneva (GVA) route The oneWorld carrier announces service reductions on its Doha – Geneva (GVA) route during May 2025. From May 5 to May 28, 2025, the airline reduces operations from daily to five weekly flights, utilizing Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The modified Geneva schedule maintains QR101 departing Doha at 0210 on Mondays and Fridays, with return flight QR102 departing Geneva at 0925. Flight QR099 operates from Doha at 0855 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while QR100 departs Geneva at 1555 on the same days.
SWISS to receive five further Airbus A350s
SWISS is to receive five further new Airbus A350-900 aircraft from 2027 onwards, in addition to the five which it already has on order. The new SWISS Airbus A350 fleet will be gradually delivered – complete with the new ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin interior – between summer 2025 and the end of 2031. Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to take delivery of more new long-haul aircraft. In addition to the five Airbus A350-900s which are already on order, the airline is to receive five more of the advanced long-haul twinjet, as part of an overall investment by the Lufthansa Group. “Our new Airbus A350s will make our fleet even more modern,” says SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger. “This is a major investment, and a vital one to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ high expectations. With these advanced twinjets and their innovative cabins, we’re bringing our long-haul aircraft fleet up to a totally new level of modernity, sustainability and inflight comfort for our guests.” Advanced and cost-efficient The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most advanced and economical long-haul aircraft on the market. The twinjet is highly fuel-efficient and low on carbon emissions. Its state-of-the-art engines also more than halve its noise emissions. With their new ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin interior, SWISS’s Airbus A350s will also take its customers’ air travel experience to a totally new level, offering outstanding comfort and the very latest cabin features in all classes of travel. SWISS’s first Airbus A350-900 will be delivered in summer 2025, with the further nine aircraft following gradually between then and the end of 2031. SWISS will be finalizing which routes its new Airbus A350s will serve over the next few months.
Emirates Group extends Airbus leadership programme for Emiratis
The Emirates Group formally signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus Beyond to extend Airbus’s Leadership Programme for the Group’s Emirati workforce for another three years. The MoU was signed by Emirates Group senior vice-president for training and development Amira Al Falasi and Airbus Beyond chief executive Adam McGonigal. The signing was witnessed by officials from both companies. The renewed agreement extends Airbus Beyond’s bespoke training modules for the Group’s Emirati talent, preparing them through experiences, exposure and educational programmes to equip them for future positions. Necessary training As of press time, more than 45 UAE nationals in three cohorts have already completed the Airbus Leadership Programme. The course was specifically designed to cultivate the capabilities required to lead effectively in this fast-paced world, blending industry-knowledge with essential leadership skills. The leadership programme comprises two modules that combine theoretical and practical training. Each module runs across five days, with the first module taking place in Toulouse, Airbus’s home base, and the second in Singapore. What does the training entail? Module 1 is designed to build self-awareness and emotional intelligence, raising confidence and further empowering talent as they navigate through their career growth paths. Module 2, on the other hand, encompasses practical training and delves into real-world business simulations that further enhance problem-solving and analytical skills. The Emirates Group currently offers various programmes dedicated to developing current and future Emirati leaders. These programmes ensure the Group’s UAE National workforce remains agile and well-positioned to support its business objectives and vision for the future.
