Skyscanner Hosted its First-Ever ‘Snack Transit’ Pop-Up in India
(Entrance to the Skyscanner Snack Transit pop-up in Delhi) Skyscanner brought its first-ever Snack Transit Pop-Up to India, delighting food lovers and travel enthusiasts alike in Delhi and Mumbai. This innovative food-truck-meets-convenience-store experience marked an exciting step in Skyscanner’s journey beyond the digital realm, bringing its global travel inspiration to life, through flavour and discovery. An extension of Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2026 Report, featuring its ‘Shelf Discovery’ trend, the pop-up drew on insights revealing that 79% of Indian travellers love exploring local supermarkets when abroad, as a way to experience new cuisines and cultures. By marrying India’s deep-rooted passion for food, the popularity of food trucks, and the growth of culinary exploration, Skyscanner demonstrated how snacks serve as a gateway to cultural discovery and travel inspiration. Held at Select CityWalk, Delhi on 14 November and Carter Road, Mumbai on 15 November, the pop- up saw visitors enjoy a global tasting journey, sampling and collecting snacks from 16 countries, including favourites like Kit Kat Matcha, Sriracha Chilli Topaki, Tim Tam, and Coca-Cola Cherry, among others. This transformed snacking into a cross-cultural adventure that resonated with a diverse crowd, from Gen Z explorers and young professionals to families, students, and avid travellers, drawn by the blend of flavour and wanderlust. From ‘Shelf Discovery’ to Street Discovery At the core of the Skyscanner Snack Transit was a vibrant food truck where guests redeemed a complimentary snack by scanning a QR code to download the Skyscanner app and explore the Travel Trends 2026 Report. Surrounding the truck, a series of interactive zones brought the brand’s travel spirit to life, from trivia-based games like the ‘Spin Wheel’ and ‘Claw Machine’, where guests tested their travel knowledge to win additional snacks, to a Photo Booth that let visitors capture their moment of discovery with instant print souvenirs. (Queues build at the Mumbai food truck as visitors wait to taste snacks from around the world) This experience was extended online as well, with guests sharing their Snack Transit moments and tagging Skyscanner on Instagram, amplifying the excitement across both cities and celebrating the intersection of food, travel, and community. Reflecting on the activation, Neel Ghose, Travel Trends and Destinations Expert, Skyscanner, said: "The Skyscanner Snack Transit isn’t just about food; it’s about the way we travel today. Curiosity has become the new currency of travel, and what used to begin with a search bar now starts with a spark of discovery - sometimes on a supermarket shelf, sometimes in a city street. By reimagining global snacks as symbols of exploration, we wanted to show how travel inspiration can be both tangible and universal. For us at Skyscanner, this activation marks a step forward in connecting travellers to the world through inspiring real-world experiences."
Travel around passions and priorities are some of the Trends Shaping Travel In 2026 by Skyscanner
Representative Image Skyscanner launches its Travel Trends 2026 report showcasing the seven key trends which will define travellers' behaviour in the coming year and outlining the big trends shaping the future of travel. In 2026, travellers are curating trips that feel more in tune with who they are and what they love. With the cost of living still top of mind, trips in 2026 are being built with purpose. They're shaped around passions, priorities and a personal sense of 'worth it'. Bryan Batista, CEO Skyscanner said: "Skyscanner's 2026 Travel Trends report shows how travel is about to get more personal than ever. Whether it's building a trip around a must-stay 'destination hotel', getting lost in a new favourite book on a reading retreat, incorporating a beauty routine into their travel itinerary or bringing the whole family along for the journey, travel will become more curated, grounded and unique." The report combines Skyscanner's own data with global consumer research and insights from renowned brands including Reddit, Malin and Goetz, All Trails and Penguin Books to identify the seven trends shaping travel in 2026. The seven trends shaping travel in 2026: Glowmads Beauty rituals will shape how - not just where - we travel. 33% of global travellers want to experience local beauty culture and 20% say that they're influenced by TikTok and social media[1]. In 2026, skincare and beauty routines will move beyond social feeds and into real-world travel behaviours. From inflight skincare routines to visits to iconic local beauty retailers to buy cult products, beauty becomes part of the itinerary. While Seoul continues to grow as a global symbol of beauty culture, this trend is less about where to go, and more about how beauty shapes the way people travel. Shelf Discovery Culinary tourism is swapping restaurant reservations for supermarket safaris. 35% of global travellers plan to check out or shop at local grocery at their next holiday. To "eat like a local" now means heading to the snack aisle. From Tokyo vending machines and 7-Eleven Slurpees to Iceland's geothermal baked bread, gastro-tourism is changing. How people travel for food is now part cultural deep dive, part budget hack, offering a unique glimpse into local life that's affordable and authentic. Altitude Shift From snow to stillness, travellers are chasing year-round alpine escapes. Over three quarters (76%) of global travellers are considering or planning a mountain escape for summer or autumn 2026[2]. In 2026, travellers will be heading for higher ground - literally. Travellers are heading to higher ground – not just for the ski slopes, but for serenity too. From the Dolomites to Annapurna to the Canadian Rockies, alpine escapes worldwide are luring people year-round for off-peak peace. Skyscanner has seen an increase of 103% globally YoY of hotel bookings using our "Room with a mountain view" filter.[3] Bookbound Writing new chapters on how to escape, reconnect and restore. Over half (57%) of travellers have booked or would consider a trip inspired by literature[4]. Whether it's tracing the footsteps of fictional heroes, planning a slow holiday around a reading retreat or chasing the world's most beautiful bookshops and libraries, people are choosing travel and literature to escape, reconnect and restore. This trend is translating onto how people are searching for hotel bookings, with the use of Skyscanner's "library" filter up 70% globally YoY.[5] Catching Flights and Feelings Meeting matches, mates and maybes on the move. An impressive 55% of travellers have gone or considered going, overseas specifically to meet new people e.g. for friendship or dating[6]. As dating habits shift and "catch-up friends" become a thing, more travellers are swapping swipes for real-world sparks - from meeting matches in faraway cities to dating overseas to finding a travel buddy on the road. We saw hotel bookings using the "solo" filter has jumped 83% globally YoY.[7] Family Miles Multi-gen trips and family memory making are on the rise. 31% of travellers across the world plan to travel with their family, including multi-generational journeys[8]. Multi-generational travel is on the rise – not just to share costs, but to reclaim time together and create long-lasting memories between parents, kids and grandparents. With budget a factor and many 20-somethings living at home, families – especially younger generations – are getting creative about how and where they travel. Destination Check-in Hotels are the main event, shaping where and why we travel. 29% will stay in accommodation that's part of the travel experience or destination itself[9]. More than ever, travellers are choosing where to go based on where they want to stay. Hotels are no longer a place to just bed down – they're the destination itself. From stunning architecture to transportive design to the overall vibe, travellers are prioritising unique stays. And as younger travellers (and their social feeds) fuel the dupe obsession, unusual accommodation is redefining what it means to "travel the world" without the long-haul flight. The Future of Travel The future of travel Is curated, considered and cleverer than ever before. With 84% saying they'll go abroad as much – or more – in 2026 vs 2025[10], travellers will be stretching their budgets to make room for richer, more rewarding experiences. AI is set to shift from assistant to agentic, where multiple systems work together to solve complex traveller needs, from trip inspiration to in-the-moment support. It's not just an evolution – it's a whole new operating system for travel. Social and search are now the go-to tools for inspiration, research and planning. As search grows smarter, social platforms are reshaping the inspiration phase by surfacing trending spots, niche experiences and recommendations in a way that feels personal and fun.

Representative Image Skyscanner has released its Smarter Summer Report, revealing how Indians are travelling with a ‘maximiser’ mindset this season, opting for smarter, savvier and more experience-rich adventures than ever before. With a whopping 96% of Indians planning to take the same or more trips than last year and 95% citing maximising summer vacations as their top priority in 2025, Indians are now putting thought into every detail. They are curating itineraries while staying flexible with their travel dates or considering alternative options to beat the crowds, all to make their money go further and make the most of their journeys. In their quest for more meaningful experiences, Indian travellers are expanding their horizons. 58% plan to explore places they haven’t considered before, and 51% want to tick off multiple spots in one trip, showing a clear shift towards exploration and memorable getaways. Calm and crowd-free This shift in preferences is also reflected in their choice of destinations – over half (52%) of Indian travellers prefer quieter, less-crowded locations over the usual tourist hotspots. It’s not just about where they go, it’s also about when — the shoulder season is gaining popularity among Indian travellers, with 1 in 2 open to travelling during these periods to avoid crowds and surge pricing. Together, these choices reflect a move away from the frenzy of peak season tourism and towards a summer experience that is more intentional. The Value-First Summer Planner Indian travellers are planning their summer getaways with a sharper focus on value and flexibility. 62% are actively seeking budget-friendly stays, while 56% are using travel comparison tools like Skyscanner to scout the best deals across flights, hotels, and car hires. Flexibility is key, with 84% open to moving their travel dates, and 47% willing to fly on less popular days to unlock greater savings. Solving the Summer Planning Puzzle Interestingly, even with clear travel goals and preferences, nearly half (49%) of Indian travellers have yet to book their summer holidays and are actively exploring options. The main reason? 38% are still undecided on where to go, highlighting a need for destination inspiration and guidance. This is where Skyscanner’s Smarter Summer Report steps in – offering practical insights to help travellers maximise their summer, from identifying the cheapest weeks to fly and sharing smart planning tips to highlighting alternative destinations that offer better value and fewer crowds. For wanderers who cherish that perfect in-between window when the heat starts to ease and the crowds thin out, Skyscanner’s curated lists — the Top 10 Cheapest and Popular Alternative Destinations, along with the Top 10 Cheapest Destinations for Summer 2025 — offer that sweet spot for savvy Indian travellers seeking adventure without the splurge. (Refer to Appendix) Sharing his views on the 2025 Indian summer travel trends, Mohit Joshi, Travel and Destinations Expert, Skyscanner, said, “Summer is a popular time for Indian travellers to take a well-earned break and explore new places. What’s different this year is how intentional people are about planning. They want to get the most value from their trips, but many are still unsure about when and where to go and how to plan it all, within their budget. In fact, 77% believe weekends are the most expensive time to fly, but that is not always true, and 44% don’t realise that some weeks are significantly cheaper than others. That’s why we created the Smarter Summer Report to help travellers cut through the noise and make confident decisions. According to our data, Sunday* is the cheapest day to fly, and the week of 25 August** is the most budget-friendly of the season. To make the most of their summer adventures, a pro tip for travellers would be to see which month is the cheapest by hitting the ‘flexible dates’ option when searching on the Skyscanner app, to see not only the cheapest month but also the day with the lowest price per month to travel to the destination. For those seeking to pack more experiences into their summer holidays, Skyscanner’s multi-city search tool allows users to search up to six routes simultaneously when planning their journey, perfect for experiencing multiple destinations in a single trip. Our goal is to empower travellers with clarity, flexibility, and smarter tools so they can enjoy their holidays without making a huge dent in their bank balance.” Climb, Chill, Explore Skyscanner’s summer data also shows that 50% of Indian travellers are actively seeking destinations with cooler climates this summer, a trend that’s pushing hill towns, mountains, and high-altitude getaways into sharper focus. In response to this growing trend, Skyscanner partnered with The Land of Wanderlust, one of India’s leading backpacking collectives, to curate the ‘Ultimate Backpacker’s Guide’ for Indian travellers, which will serve as a handbook for them when taking off on their mountain adventures this season. Sherwin Rebello, Founder, The Land of Wanderlust, adds, “We’re seeing a growing number of travellers choosing the mountains not just to escape the heat, but to embrace a slower, more meaningful way of exploring. From spontaneous backpackers to digital nomads, more people are looking for flexible, experience-led travel that fits their lifestyle. Social media still plays a big role in inspiring trips, especially for younger travellers who often join after seeing friends or creators visit a destination. But it’s not just Gen Z. We’ve also seen an increase in private group requests often from young families or older couples who want the comfort of travelling at their own pace while staying in local homestays. Digital nomads, on the other hand, are choosing quieter towns with reliable networks so they can work while still soaking in the mountain air. Whether it’s a weekend escape, a remote work setup, or a slow-travel holiday, there’s a clear shift towards intentional, immersive journeys across age groups.” Ultimate Backpacker’s Guide To help travellers make the most of their adventures this summer, The Land of Wanderlust shares their top tips for a seamless backpacking experience: Double the Bags, Double the Freedom: Bring two. A 50L main backpack that fits it all without breaking your back, and a smaller daypack — perfect for short hikes when you want to travel light and leave the bulk behind. Scrapes Happen. Be Ready: A compact first aid kit can go a long way. Toss in essentials like band-aids, antiseptic, and blister patches because mountain trails don’t come with medical booths. Pack Warm, Climb High: From icy winds to surprise drizzles, mountain weather is anything but predictable. Jackets, thermals, and sturdy trekking shoes will keep you warm, dry, and trail ready. Stay Fresh, Stay Respectful: A compact toiletries kit is essential not just for your comfort, but to ensure you leave the environment as clean as you found it. Pack smart, travel responsibly. Sun Strong? Shade Stronger: The higher you go, the harsher the sun. Sunscreen and sunglasses aren’t optional; they’re survival gear for your skin and eyes. Power That Lasts the Climb: A power bank is your lifeline. Whether it’s maps, music, or just capturing that summit shot — don’t let your devices tap out before you do.

From savouring local flavours to checking off tourist landmarks and iconic sites, these trips are becoming part match-day, part mini-holiday. So, if you have a similar adventure in mind, where you’re plotting your match calendar and getaway plans at the same time, here’s where you should be headed, and what you absolutely shouldn’t miss while you’re there: 1) Ahmedabad, Gujarat Home to the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad promises more than just a cricket spectacle. It offers a slice of India that’s rooted, rhythmic, and richly cultural. With matches scheduled in the evening, you have all day to explore Sabarmati Ashram, or the Adalaj Stepwell. From there, you can cool off by the Sabarmati Riverfront, where wide promenades and breezy views create the perfect backdrop for a cup of chai in the evening. The best part about Gujarat is their love for snacks - try khakhra, theplas, fafda-jalebi combos or lavish thalis for a culinary high. For a retail fix, head to Law Garden Market for traditional handicrafts or pick up bandhani dupattas and mirror-work bags that double up as great gifts! Here’s a pro tip: pack light—hand luggage is enough for a few days away, and since there’s no need to queue to check in bags or wait around at baggage reclaim after landing, it’s as simple as walking off the plane and heading out on holiday, hassle-free. And if you haven’t booked your flight yet, don’t worry, Skyscanner’s got your back! 2) Mullanpur, Chandigarh With the matches scheduled at the end of the week, consider this your perfect excuse to turn this moment into a long weekend adventure. Stay on in Chandigarh, the city that knows how to slow down without getting dull. After Friday night's adrenaline, spend Saturday recharging: begin with Sukhna Lake at sunrise, followed by an afternoon at the Rock Garden. If you’re looking for something offbeat, you can even consider wandering through the Japanese Garden, exploring the Le Corbusier Centre, or checking out Sector 7’s indie cafes and art galleries. For shopping and street eats, Sector 17 delivers it all, from high-street stores and local favourites to craft coffee and gourmet thalis that hit the spot, everything that you will be dreaming of on your flight back home. 3) London/Manchester, England Cricket fever isn’t just sweeping through Indian stadiums — it’s taking fans across borders, with England’s Lord’s Cricket Ground high on the list. If cricket is a religion, then Lord’s is its holy ground, and this June, it’s hosting the World Test Championship Final. No surprise then that it is the perfect time for nearly half (46%) of Indian travellers who are eyeing England for international cricket tournaments to pair the cricket fever with some classic British adventures. If you’re catching a game in London, there is so much you can do beyond visiting Buckingham Palace, hearing the Big Ben chime across Westminster, or strolling through Hyde Park. You can carve out time to wander Southbank, sip a pint by the Thames, or hop over to Notting Hill for pastel-hued streets and boutique finds. If you’re headed to Manchester, consider combining your stadium visit with a detour to the Lake District in Cumbria. And if you're in Birmingham, don’t miss a day at the Cotswolds to explore rolling hills, stone cottages, and antique shops that feel like they’re straight out of a period drama. Planning your trip smartly can help make this trip happen without breaking the bank. Sometimes, flying out midweek or shifting your travel dates by just a day can unlock surprisingly better fares. Tip: Use Skyscanner’s ‘Whole Month’ search tool to spot the best deals - it gives you a bird's eye view of the cheapest days to fly in the month. 4) Melbourne/Sydney, Australia Sunny skies, legendary stadiums, and fierce cricket rivalries — no wonder Australia is climbing the travel charts for Indian fans with 56% of fans saying they’d love to catch the action live Down Under, according to the same report. From the roar of the crowd at the MCG in Melbourne to Sydney’s SCG, watching a match here is as much about the city as it is about the sport. If you’re in Melbourne, spend the mornings sipping flat whites in laneway cafes, strolling through Queen Victoria Market, or hopping on a tram to explore Federation Square. Got an extra day? Escape to the Yarra Valley for wine tastings and vineyard lunches with a view. Sydney, meanwhile, brings its own flair, with pre-match dips at Bondi Beach, ferry rides to Manly, or lunch with a view at the Opera House precinct. If you’re up for a longer getaway, consider flying up to Cairns and ticking off the Great Barrier Reef - it’s a bucket-list adventure worth extending your stay for. Tip: Found the perfect flight but not the perfect price? Set up a Price Alert on Skyscanner app to track fares and get notified when the price changes — the easiest way to score a deal if you're booking a few weeks or months ahead.

Representative Image It’s time to turn up the colour - literally! Holi is just around the corner and guess what? This year, the universe (and the calendar) have aligned to bring you a long weekend that’s practically begging to be turned into an escape. According to Skyscanner’s Wanderlost Report, almost half (49%) Indians were already plotting their next getaway for 2025 in the month of January. In fact, Skyscanner data shows that 13 March and 15 March are currently the most popular dates Indians are travelling on, so why not make the most of this festive long weekend with a getaway that mixes tradition with a touch of adventure? And it’s no surprise - Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2025 report found that 91% of Indian travellers believe that vacations help them unwind and recharge. So whether you’re a colour-slinging champion, a serial gujiya muncher, or just someone who wants to swap pichkaris (water guns) for passport stamps, Skyscanner has got you covered with some travel recommendations. From India’s most iconic Holi hotspots to serene escapes where the only colours are vibrant sunsets and lush landscapes, we’re here to help you make the most of this long weekend—your way. Vrindavan & Mathura, Uttar Pradesh If you’ve ever dreamed of celebrating Holi in the most spectacular way possible, the twin cities of Vrindavan and Mathura are the places to be! Here, Holi is celebrated as a multi-day spectacle, steeped in history, devotion, and an explosion of colour. From Barsana’s ‘Lathmar Holi,’ where women playfully chase men with sticks, to ‘Phoolon wali Holi’ at the Banke Bihari Temple, where petals replace coloured powder, every ritual carries a story centuries in the making. The streets are awash with vibrant hues of gulal, the aroma of freshly made malpuas wafting through the air, temple courtyards packed with devotees, and the lovely tunes of "Rang Barse Bhige Chunar Wali" playing in every corner. If you’re thinking of being part of the grand festivities this year, you're not alone! Skyscanner data shows a 353% surge in searches for flights to the nearest airport, Agra, for March 12, compared to the same day in February. Even more striking, searches for March 11 alone spiked 417% as compared to the previous day. Clearly, India is getting Holi-ready. Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Holi in Varanasi is pure magic! So it is no surprise that Varanasi ranks second among the most searched destinations for travel between 12th and 18th March*—proof that more and more travellers are eyeing the perfect flight to celebrate here without missing a moment of the action. If you are planning a trip to the city, here’s a pro tip: aim for a flight that lands late the night before or early on Holi morning for the ultimate experience. Use Skyscanner’s departure time filter to easily find flights that align with your ideal arrival and departure windows. Once you’re there, watching the sunrise over the Ganges, as the first light washes over the river, is a must—especially for those who love the quiet moments before the city wakes up. Then, experience the main Holi festivities at the Dashashwamedh Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where the fusion of tradition, music, and colours creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. And as the day winds down, witness the evening Ganga Aarti with its chants and flickering lamps –the perfect way to end the day, soak in the energy and embrace the spirit of the Holy City of India. Goa, India When you say long weekend, India hears Goa! This year, the party mode is already on, and the numbers don’t lie! Ranked No. 4 among the most searched destinations during the Holi weekend, it is clear that Goa isn’t just a summer escape—it’s a festive hotspot. You can dance your way through beachside parties or explore its famous forts and churches in the golden morning light. Alternatively, take a day trip to experience Holi at temples in Ponda or Vasco to add a local twist to your celebrations. And if you extend your trip by a few days, you might just catch the grand Shigmo parades, a spectacle of elaborate floats, traditional Goan folk dances, and drum processions that make the celebrations uniquely Goan. So, pack your bags, grab your shades (and maybe some extra sunscreen), and get ready to dive into a celebration that’s as colourful as it gets. For those heading to Goa for the long weekend, planning your travel smartly can help you make the most of your trip. You can mix & match your flights—instead of booking a return ticket with the same airline, try flying out with one and back with another, or even consider different airports for departure and return. This simple hack can unlock better fares, making your Holi escape easier on the wallet. Kolkata, West Bengal In Kolkata, you will witness Holi as a work of art in motion—with folks rejoicing in colours during the Dol Jatra! Ranked among the top Holi getaways, the City of Joy brings its own artistic flair to the festival. Picture this: the streets of Shantiniketan come alive with Basanta Utsav, a mesmerising display of Rabindranath Tagores’s legacy, where people dressed in vibrant yellows sing, dance, and welcome spring in the most poetic way possible. Back in Kolkata, you can soak up the festive spirit in College Street and Nakhoda Masjid Road, where colours fly high, and the energy is electric. Looking for a more laid-back celebration? Park Street’s Holi parties offer the perfect mix of revelry and relaxation. And let’s not forget the food—malpua, thandai, and sandesh are all part of the experience. Mumbai, Maharashtra Known for its Holi bashes and events across the city, Mumbai is all about Bollywood beats and colour-soaked streets during the festival! The city definitely knows how to celebrate in style, with high-energy parties, foot-thumping music, and a festival spirit that’s truly infectious. If you’re looking for classic Mumbai Holi vibes, Juhu Beach and Chowpatty are where the action is—expect crowds, colours, and the Arabian Sea adding to the magic. Want to take it up a notch? The city’s Bollywood-style Holi parties are legendary, featuring DJs, rain dances, and enough gulal to turn the city into a canvas of colour. And if you’re looking to keep the party going, Martin Garrix at DY Patil Stadium is set to take the celebrations to another level with an electrifying night of music and energy. Of course, no Holi in Mumbai is complete without indulging in puran poli, bhang, thandai, and jalebis from the city’s famous street stalls. So, grab your sunglasses, put on your festival whites, and get ready for a Holi that’s as vibrant as Mumbai itself!
