IndiGo introduces direct flights connecting Durgapur to Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra, and Guwahati

IndiGo, India’s preferred carrier, has announced new routes connecting Durgapur with the cities of Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra, and Guwahati, starting from August 30, 2024. Previously, Durgapur had direct connectivity with metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. With new flights to Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra, and Guwahati, IndiGo will now operate 42 weekly flights from the city of Durgapur which will play a vital role in enhancing trade, travel, and tourism across the eastern part of India. Previously, with limited connectivity options and surface transport being a primary source of commute, travel time between Durgapur and Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra, and Guwahati was almost 10 hours, 11 hours, and 21 hours respectively. With IndiGo's new direct flights, the travel time will be reduced to less than 2 hours on these routes. Furthermore, IndiGo is the only airline offering direct connectivity to all three destinations from Durgapur, further enhancing its commitment to providing convenient travel experiences for passengers while expanding its domestic network. Akasa Air inaugurates direct flights connecting Bengaluru and Ahmedabad with Abu Dhabi

Akasa Air commences daily direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Bengaluru and Ahmedabad under codeshare with Etihad Airways, propelling travel momentum between India and UAE. The maiden flight from Bengaluru on 1st March 2025 departed Kempegowda International Airport at 1000hrs IST arriving at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 1235hrs AST. The maiden flight from Ahmedabad will depart Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 2245hrs IST arriving at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 0100hrs AST on 2nd March 2025. The new routes complement Akasa Air’s daily service between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, which was inaugurated in July 2024. With this expansion, Akasa Air now operates 21 weekly flights connecting Abu Dhabi with three major Indian cities. This also marks the airline’s first international route from Bengaluru while further strengthening its international connectivity from Ahmedabad. In an event held at Kempegowda International Airport to flag off the maiden flight, a ceremonial lamp was lit in the presence of members of Akasa Air’s Executive Committee. To commemorate the occasion, a special boarding pass was presented to the first passenger on the inaugural flight. Akasa Air adds Darbhanga as the 28th city to its network

Akasa Air welcomes its 27th aircraft in India  

Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline received delivery of its 27th aircraft, continuing its unprecedented expansion trajectory. The first leg of the delivery flight commenced  from Seattle, USA, to Keflavik, Iceland, and concluded with the final leg from Larnaca, Cyprus, to  Bengaluru, India. Bearing registration number VT-YBD, the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft arrived at  Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on 29 January 2025. Akasa Air announces additional flights to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh 2025

Akasa Air ramped up its connectivity to Prayagraj with special flights from four Indian cities in addition to its daily direct services from Mumbai and Delhi to cater to the increased travel demand during the Maha Kumbh 2025. Between January 27th, 2025, and February 28th, 2025, Akasa Air will operate daily flights connecting Prayagraj with Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru via Delhi. Akasa Air appoints Belson Coutinho as its Chief Operating Officer

  Akasa Air, India's fastest-growing airline, announced the appointment of Belson Coutinho as its Chief Operating Officer, effective 6 January 2025. Belson will lead Akasa Air’s crucial operational functions as the airline continues its path to becoming one of the top 30 airlines in the world by the turn of this decade. In his new role, Belson will be responsible for Inflight Services, Airport Services, Maintenance & Engineering, Flight Operations, IOCC, Operational Excellence while also spearheading Akasa Air Learning Academy. Air India Express celebrates new flights from Bhubaneswar to Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, and Patna

Air India Express celebrated the launch of four new routes from Bhubaneswar with a celebratory event at the city’s airport. The inaugural flights to Jaipur and Kochi marked the occasion, while services to Lucknow will commence tomorrow, and flights to Patna are set to start on 15 January 2025. The celebration was attended by dignitaries including Babu Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly; Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Government of Odisha; Debadutta Suranjita Jena, Additional Secretary, Government of Odisha; and senior officials from Air India Express. Special commemorative boarding passes were presented to the first guests of the inaugural flights to Jaipur and Kochi. Air India Express introduces Phuket and Dibrugarh to its network

A week after launching direct flights to Bangkok, Air India Express continues its expansion in Southeast Asia by announcing operations to Phuket, further strengthening its presence in Thailand. The airline will commence direct flights connecting Hyderabad and Phuket starting January 31, 2025, operating three times a week on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. From February 15, the frequency will increase to six times a week, with daily flights except Tuesday. To celebrate the launch, special inaugural fares are available, with Xpress Value fares from ₹11,000 across major booking channels and Xpress Lite fares from ₹10,500 and additional discounts for loyalty members on its website, airindiaexpress.com and mobile apps. In addition to expanding internationally, the airline has announced Dibrugarh in Assam as a new station after adding Dimapur in Nagaland to its growing network in November this year. The airline will operate direct flights from Dibrugarh to Guwahati, with the same aircraft continuing to Delhi, providing convenient onward connectivity for travellers from Dibrugarh heading to the national capital.
