Delta elevates travel with new lounge and next-gen aircraft
Delta has unveiled a new premium lounge at Lagos Airport on 1st July, ahead of deploying its newest aircraft, the A350-900 and A330-900neo, on U.S. routes this October, boosting capacity and comfort for Nigerian travellers. Delta Air Lines is enhancing the travel experience for customers flying between Nigeria and the U.S. with a series of significant upgrades that underscore the airline’s long-term commitment to the region. Beginning 1st July, Delta customers departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) will enjoy a newly renovated premium lounge space, designed to deliver a more elevated and comfortable ground experience. As part of its continued investment in the transatlantic journey, Delta will also introduce its newest and most advanced aircraft on routes between Lagos and the U.S. starting this October. These enhancements reflect Delta’s ongoing focus on delivering a world-class experience both on the ground and in the air. “With the launch of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the introduction of our most advanced aircraft on our routes, we are reaffirming Delta’s commitment to Nigerian travellers," said Matteo Curcio Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. "This is an investment in infrastructure, and we strive to deliver an exceptional travel experience from West Africa to the world.” A Premium Ground Experience: New Lounge at LOS Delta’s new lounge at Lagos’ international terminal is set to redefine comfort and convenience for travellers flying to the U.S. The upgraded facility will offer an elevated customer experience with more space, contemporary Nigerian-inspired design, high-speed Wi-Fi, private relaxation areas and premium refreshments. The lounge will cater to Delta One customers as well as valued oil and gas clientele. This move represents more than just a change in location; it’s a strategic investment in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. By providing an elevated pre-flight experience, Delta continues to position itself as a leader in premium transatlantic travel from West Africa. Delta’s Most Advanced Aircraft Set to Serve Nigeria Starting in October, Delta will introduce its newest and most technologically advanced aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, on the Lagos–Atlanta (LOS–ATL) route. Then between Dec. 2 and Jan. 16, the Airbus A330-900neo will be deployed on the Lagos–New York (LOS–JFK) route during the busy holiday travel season. Joseph Young, Delta’s General Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, commented: “Delta has served Lagos for nearly 20 years, and it is a vital gateway for us," said Joseph Young, Delta's General Manager for Europe. "These enhancements reflect our long- standing partnership with Nigeria. Whether it’s the comfort of Delta One Suites or the warm hospitality in our new lounge, we’re elevating every step of the journey for our customers.” The A350-900, Delta’s flagship aircraft, replaces the A330-200 on the Atlanta route and brings a 35% increase in seat capacity. It offers a quieter experience, improved fuel efficiency, wider seats and a refined in-flight experience. The A330-900neo will operate on the New York-JFK route, delivers better cabin pressure, humidity, and a quieter, more comfortable journey than the A330-200. Both aircraft are equipped with Delta’s signature Delta One Suites, featuring lie-flat seats with sliding doors for privacy, luxury bedding and personalized service. Delta Premium Select offers more space and elevated dining, while Delta Main provides individual entertainment, ambient lighting, and increased personal space. Passengers will also benefit from advanced air filtration systems and quieter cabins designed for greater relaxation on long-haul journeys. As of early April 2025, all customers flying across Delta’s transatlantic network to West Africa and Europe, will have access to fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi presented by T-Mobile. Delta and Missoni, the renowned Italian fashion brand, are expanding their partnership as the brands elevate customers’ time in the air with comfort, sophistication and style. This year, the partnership will launch a luxurious Delta One collection, which includes a Missoni bedding set designed for Delta, along with a suite of amenities that include a refreshed Delta One amenity kit, custom socks, slippers and an eye mask. To enhance sleep experience, Delta is also expanding its customer-favourite mattress pad and adding a memory foam cuddle pillow to flights over 12 hours. As Delta continues to strengthen its relationship with Nigerian travellers, these investments promise a new era of seamless, comfortable, and world-class transatlantic travel, from check-in to touchdown.

Representative Image IndiGo, Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic have announced plans to build an industry-leading partnership connecting India with Europe and North America, with ambitions to grow to a global scale. India, one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, is at the heart of this collaboration. By linking IndiGo’s extensive domestic network with Delta’s strength in North America and the transatlantic, the extensive reach of Air France-KLM in Europe and North America, and the U.K. and transatlantic presence of Virgin Atlantic, the partnership is poised to offer travelers broader access, smoother journeys, and a more consistent experience across continents. Linking dozens of cities in the United States, Canada, Europe and India, the airlines aim to meet rising demand for international travel while setting new standards for connectivity and cooperation in global aviation. Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said: “IndiGo has embarked on an ambitious journey to become a global airline by 2030. Combining our strengths with those of IndiGo, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, will enable us to offer unparalleled connectivity and convenience, ensuring that our customers enjoy the highest standards of service and reliability across the globe. Since then, Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic customers have had access to more than 30 IndiGo points in India. More recently, IndiGo announced the start of service to Europe, which, in addition to expanding the existing partnership with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic transatlantic flights, facilitates a new partnership opportunity between IndiGo and Delta, enabling Indigo’s customers to connect to Delta’s broad transatlantic network. After commercial contracts and regulatory procedures are completed to allow IndiGo to sell partner flights as its own under its own 6E* marketing codes, IndiGo customers will be able to book onward travel on select flights operated by its international partners, making it easier to reach destinations across Europe and North America. These include: KLM flights from Amsterdam to 30 points within Europe Delta and KLM flights from Amsterdam to the United States and Canada Virgin Atlantic flights from Manchester to the United States For its part, KLM’s recently announced new route connecting Amsterdam with Hyderabad offers further opportunity for cooperation with IndiGo. With the route’s launch in September 2025, Air France-KLM will begin selling IndiGo flights to 24 destinations beyond Hyderabad. IndiGo has previously announced that it will enhance its fleet of damp leased B787 to six aircraft later this year and has in place a long-term firm order of 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with options for 70 more. Delta, meanwhile, plans to resume services to India with nonstop flights between Atlanta and Delhi, subject to government approval. The service start date will be announced later. Future Collaboration The MoU also creates a framework for deeper collaboration between the carriers on a bilateral and multilateral basis; contemplates commercial collaboration including network, loyalty, cargo and sales, subject to regulatory approvals; explores areas of non-commercial cooperation including aircraft maintenance, sustainability, training, ground handling; and acknowledges the need to develop advanced collaboration through use of technology to efficiently service joint customers.

BRG volunteers will receive specialized training and be paired 1:1 with veterans, cultivating an environment for ongoing support and meaningful connection. Delta has also partnered with Aviramp, an award-winning UK manufacturer of boarding equipment, to provide a safe and comfortable boarding and deplaning experience for the veterans, regardless of their mobility. “Each year, we remain committed to honouring the sacrifices of our WWII veterans by bringing them back to the battlefields where they served,” said Donnie Edwards – President and Co-Founder Best Defence Foundation. “As we return to Normandy for the 81st anniversary, we continue our proud partnership with Delta Air Lines to provide these heroes the opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and camaraderie. Their stories are a living testament to history, and we are grateful to stand beside them as we pay tribute to their legacy.” As part of Delta’s ongoing commitment to honour the legacy of WWII veterans and ensure their stories are never forgotten, the airline will once again partner with the Best Defence Foundation to bring 10 students through its NextGen Program to Normandy. This fully immersive experience will allow students to walk in the footsteps of history alongside the veterans who lived it, visiting historic sites and attending the Freedom Prize ceremony in Caen on June 3. “Eighty-one years after the D-Day landings, Normandy continues to show its gratitude and eternal recognition to the heroes who liberated its territory, France, and Europe at the risk of their lives,” said Hervé Morin – President of Normandy. “It will be a great honour for me to welcome these veterans, like previous years, to the Abbaye aux Dames in Caen to celebrate this great moment in the history of humanity and the return of democracy and peace.
