AI-driven behavioural change platform Atiom announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Bangkok-based global firm Minor Group. This new partnership aims to boost global communication capabilities for Minor Group, and to enhance staff training and guest service at its properties. By doing so, the hospitality group would be better equipped to support its teams, optimise training costs, and enhance operational efficiency and profitability throughout its organisation. As such, this strategic partnership supports Minor Group’s brand transformation, commercial initiatives, and its long-term goal of becoming the world’s leading hospitality group. Going digital-first for maximum effect The initial rollout includes 17,000 licenses across Minor Hotels’ diverse portfolio, including the highly acclaimed Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Avani Hotels & Resorts, NH Collection, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, Oaks Hotels, and Elewana Collection. The platform features an extensive range of tools from self-audits and peer-to-peer recognition, to the sharing of best practices and engaging news feeds to ensure staff alignment with corporate goals. Atiom chief executive Matthew Spriegel pointed out that his company’s digital-first approach works well with Minor’s sustainability-driven training and development programmes. Spriegel said: “For us, the partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to expand to new hotels, adding to our growing credibility as a trusted digital transformation partner in the hospitality industry.” For his part, Minor Hotels’ chief people officer Craig Cochrane opined that introducing Ation technologies into Group’s hotels across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa enables the hospitality firm to galvanise its brand standards of aligning service, culture and communication among its diverse brands. Cochrane said: “The platform has already started driving stronger engagement and faster learning across our regions, aligning well with our group-wide transformation.” With the Atiom partnership, those working for Minor Hotels are given access to vital corporate information whenever they need it. At the same time, the AI component of Atiom technologies will enable managers to develop training modules and simulations to enhance employees’ skill sets. With Atiom, Minor Hotels’ employees gain seamless access to essential company information, while managers can create tailored AI tutor modules, role-play simulations, and quizzes to optimize training.
Minor Hotels to manage Dubai’s iconic Palm West Beach with Seven Tides
Minor Hotels has signed a strategic hotel management agreement for a prominent beachfront property on Dubai’s iconic Palm West Beach in collaboration with valued partners, Seven Tides. Effective by 1st August 2025, the addition of this new resort and serviced residences—currently operating as Dukes The Palm, a Royal Hideaway Hotel—to Minor Hotels’ managed portfolio further strengthens the group’s growing footprint in the United Arab Emirates and establishes it as the largest operator on the Trunk of the Palm. This agreement will see Minor Hotels’ total key count on Palm Jumeirah increase to 1,524 keys across three properties including Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort and NH Collection Dubai The Palm under three distinctive brands, reinforcing the group’s long-erm commitment to the region. Located on the vibrant Palm West Beach, one of Dubai’s most desirable lifestyle destinations, the property offers direct access to a lively beachfront promenade featuring upscale restaurants, beach clubs, and entertainment venues. Its prime location also places guests within easy reach of major and is a convenient 30-minute drive from Dubai International Airport, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers. The property comprises a range of room and suite options, and the 287 serviced apartments include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts. Guests can enjoy six dining venues, from a specialty restaurant and pool bar, along with a private beach, infinity pool, lazy river, and extensive wellness and family-friendly facilities. Minor Hotels will also implement a soft refurbishment of the guest rooms and public spaces prior to a rebranding of the property to be announced later in 2025, underlining the group’s commitment to delivering value for both guests and partners while enhancing the property’s market positioning. “This expanded collaboration with Seven Tides represents a strategic alignment of values and vision. Palm Jumeirah is one of the most dynamic hospitality markets in the world, and securing a dominant presence on West Beach enables us to bring our elevated guest experiences to a location that perfectly embodies the energy and ambition of Dubai,” stated Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels. “This is a landmark moment for Minor Hotels as we expand our presence in one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets,” said Amir Golbarg, Senior Vice President Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa. “This new addition not only reflects our strategic vision for growth in high-demand urban resort destinations but also strengthens our valued relationship with Seven Tides. Together, we look forward to elevating the guest experience and delivering long-term success on Palm Jumeirah.” “This is a strategic appointment as Minor Hotels already successfully manages our existing asset, the neighbouring NH Collection Dubai The Palm, and the agreement will provide enhanced synergy between the hotels,” said Abdulla bin Sulayem, CEO, Seven Tides. “Furthermore, the proven track record of Minor Hotels in delivering elevated guest experiences, combined with their operational expertise, makes them the ideal partner to manage this property. We look forward to a successful collaboration that heightens the appeal of Palm West Beach as one of Dubai’s premier hospitality destinations,” he added. With this latest addition, Minor Hotels continues its dynamic expansion across the UAE, currently operating 17 properties under five brands. The group remains focused on identifying strategic opportunities in key global destinations, leveraging strong partnerships and local market insight to drive sustainable growth.
Minor Hotels reports resilience in its financials for Q1-2025
Minor Hotels released its financial report for the quarter that ended on 31st March today, 14th May. The Thai hospitality firm reported a resilient start to 2025, shrugging off seasonal softness and currency volatility to post a four percent year-on-year increase in core revenue, as well as a seven percent jump in core EBITDA. Buoyed by robust leisure and business demand, Minor Hotels cut its first-quarter core loss to THB 493 million, marking an improvement of 57 percent from 2024. The sharp turnaround underscores both the earning power of the group’s diverse global portfolio and its disciplined cost controls. System-wide occupancy across Minor’s global portfolio of more than 560 properties edged up one point to 64 percent while average daily rate (ADR) rose three percent year-on-year, lifting global RevPAR by five percent. Group CEO Dillip Rajakarier remarked: “Delivering such a strong first-quarter performance in what is traditionally our toughest season shows the power of our trusted brands and the agility of our people. We will keep building momentum through ‘asset right’ expansion and sharper distribution while maintaining strict discipline on operating and capital costs, with a clear focus on further debt reduction to strengthen our balance sheet.” Performance by market Thailand continued to outperform, with owned hotels in the country recording a ten percent RevPAR increase as international arrivals accelerated, flight connectivity improved and global exposure thanks to the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus which was filmed across four Minor resorts thereby boosting brand visibility. Europe also exceeded expectations despite its traditional low season, with owned hotels in the region delivering eight percent RevPAR growth, led by strong trading in Spain, Italy, and the Benelux region, underscoring demand resilience across the continent. Strategic pricing and stronger direct-booking initiatives, notably the debut of the new Minor Hotels masterbrand in March, combined to sharpen top-line momentum. Total system sales for the entire portfolio held steady in the first quarter at THB 40.5 billion and rose three percent on a like-for-like basis once foreign-exchange effects and recent openings or exits were stripped out. Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East and Africa saw a combined two percent uplift in system sales, with the Maldives and Sri Lanka helping to offset pockets of softness elsewhere in those regions. Hotels owned by Minor but operated by third parties grew like-for-like system sales by six percent, buoyed by robust demand in Africa and Thai resorts, while the mixed-use division which includes Anantara Vacation Club, The Wolseley Hospitality Group, residential, spa, and retail businesses expanded system sales by 16 percent.

Minor Hotels ‘reimagines’ its brand with a new identity
NH Collection Helsinki Grand Hansa Minor Hotels has unveiled its evolution into a guest-facing masterbrand and reinforced its commitment to creating innovative and insightful hospitality experiences that deliver what matters most to its guests. The brand refresh marks a significant milestone for the global hospitality group as it paves the way to add nearly 300 properties to its portfolio by the end of 2027. It also follows the 2018 acquisition of NH Hotel Group, now operating as Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, which tripled the group’s global footprint. Ian Di Tullio, Chief Commercial Officer of Minor Hotels, commented: “The reimagined Minor Hotels brand represents more than just a new identity. Our value-driven evolution, powered by enhanced digital platforms, a streamlined loyalty program, and a strong distribution strategy, reflects our ambition to deliver extraordinary hospitality experiences to our guests and be the partner of choice for owners and investors. By uniting our brands under the Minor Hotels masterbrand, we’re excited to enter a new era of growth where Minor Hotels will resonate as powerfully with travellers as it already does with our partners.” The guiding principle behind the brand evolution is to deliver what matters most to guests, team members, investors, owners and partners. Minor Hotels’ new masterbrand strategy brings its eight hotel brands – Anantara, Avani, Elewana Collection, NH, NH Collection, nhow, Oaks and Tivoli – and travel experience brands together under the Minor Hotels banner, highlighting the group’s offerings and solidifying Minor Hotels’ perception among its stakeholders. New brand identity The first thing guests will notice is Minor Hotels’ fresh new look. The arrowhead within the ‘M’ of the Minor Hotels logo represents direction and guidance, pointing the way to discovery, connection and adventure, and reflects Minor's role in shaping meaningful guest journeys. The visual identity is completed with a refreshed colour palette, signature brand fonts and eye-catching photography. The new brand essence – What Matters Most – and voice will share Minor Hotels’ stories in tune with the needs and desires of today’s consumers, stakeholders and team members. Guests will interact with the Minor Hotels brand through all consumer touchpoints, starting with digital and mobile platforms and other changes involving marketing and sales channels and at Minor Hotels’ properties. They can also expect to see Minor Hotels more frequently and prominently through multi-brand communications and advertising, utilising the power of its hotel brands to drive awareness of the umbrella brand. Minor Hotels’ hotel brands, each with a unique character and offering, will retain their brand identity, websites and marketing. They will also benefit from the development of the overarching Minor Hotels brand, done in tandem with the hotel brands. Coinciding with the Minor Hotels rebrand, the group has updated its brand architecture to categorise its hotel brands into three segments – Luxury, Premium and Select – to guide guests’ decisions on selecting the right brand for their travel needs. The group also plans to expand its hotel brand portfolio to fulfil guest and owner needs, with at least two additional brands launching later this year. Upgraded digital experience The group has relaunched minorhotels.com as a consumer site, shifting its focus from a corporate and development-centric site. For the first time, guests can book any of Minor Hotels’ over 560 properties on one Minor Hotels website as well as find destination information. Minor Hotels has also launched a new mobile app, creating a single go-to app for all its brands and moving away from hotel brand-specific apps. Travellers can use the Minor Hotels app to book stays, manage bookings and gather destination information. During their stay, guests can enhance their experience by using the app to interact with hotel team members and request services. The group will continuously increase functionality and personalisation on minorhotels.com and the Minor Hotels app, including integration of the group’s restaurants and spa and wellness offerings, drawing from user preferences and incorporating guest feedback. Simplified loyalty programme under Minor DISCOVERY Minor Hotels will continue to recognise its guests through the Global Hotel Alliance’s (GHA) loyalty programme, GHA DISCOVERY, under a new name: Minor DISCOVERY. Minor DISCOVERY will replace hotel brand-specific monikers – Anantara DISCOVERY, Avani DISCOVERY, NH DISCOVERY, Oaks DISCOVERY, Elewana DISCOVERY, Tivoli DISCOVERY – to streamline member access to one of the most transparent and rewarding hotel loyalty programmes. Rewards and benefits for members of Minor DISCOVERY are unchanged, including earning 4-7% back in DISCOVERY DOLLARS (D$1=US$1), exclusive member rates, live local offers, and elite perks all conveniently accessible within the app. To mark the new programme’s launch, new Minor DISCOVERY members can unlock $100 in DISCOVERY DOLLARS by completing two stays at Minor Hotels properties. Refreshed B2B customer proposition Businesses, professionals, event planners and travel agents will have a dedicated space in the newly created Minor PRO. The programme encompasses all the products, services and communications for B2B audiences, including existing programmes under hotel brand-specific names, such as NH PRO, Anantara Journeys and Oaks Professionals. Minor PRO will offer its professional customers solutions that meet their needs. Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, added: “The Minor Hotels rebrand is a natural progression for us, building on a success story spanning more than five decades. It isn’t just about driving revenue and profitability; it’s also about harnessing the strength of our diversity, our knowledge and team members to achieve long-term sustainable growth and invest in the guest experience. Unifying all our hotel brands and travel experiences under the Minor Hotels umbrella will help us strengthen our positioning in the hospitality industry and help us deliver on our growth ambitions.” .

Philippines launches travel permit system for minors travelling abroad
The Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has launched an automated travel permit system for minors travelling abroad (MTAs). The new system was developed to expedite transactions, thus doing away with the intervention of middlemen when it comes to obtaining official government permits. According to assistant secretary Ada Colico, head of the DSWD Protective Programmes Office, only parents or legal guardians of minors may use the system to apply for a child’s travel clearance. At a press forum held on Thursday, 13th March, Colico stated outright: “The only people authorised to create accounts for MTAs are their parents and legal guardians. Anyone else, such as fixers, will not be allowed to create accounts as the system requires the identity of a parent or a guardian through relevant documents such as their National ID.” Why the system is necessary The MTA travel permit system is part of the Philippine government’s preventive measures against child-trafficking. Without a government-issued clearance, individuals under 18 years of age may not be allowed to travel outside the country. Colico explained that the old system was time-consuming on the part of parents and guardians, prompting them to seek the services of travel agents or fixers to expedite the process. Under the streamlined process of securing travel clearance, parents or guardians no longer need to visit a DSWD national or regional office in person, and may submit their applications directly online. Applicants can receive their requested document between one to three working days upon their compliance to complete and verified documents. This new online system is also a sustainable way to address red tape whilst ensuring that minors travelling outside the country have received the full consent of their parents or legal guardians. Colico said: “We have simplified and streamlined the processing of applications, making it more client-centric to ensure the protection of children from the perils of abuse, trafficking and other forms of exploitation.” The digitisation of the DSWD’s MTA travel permit system complies with the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) or Republic Act (RA) No. 11032, legislation that recognises technology as an essential tool in enhancing transparency and accountability in government transactions with minimal human intervention.

Minor International lauds creation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone
International hospitality and real estate firm Minor International welcomed the creation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). The hospitality firm also lauded related tax incentives to boost investment and economic activity on Malaysia’s Desaru Coast, where Minor manages a luxury residential development, Anantara Desaru Coast Residences. As the zone's flagship area, the Desaru Coast will focus on several sectors, including education, food security, health, and tourism. With its strategic location and a range of world-class amenities, the residences are poised to benefit from the increased economic activity and investment that the JS-SEZ is expected to attract. A rafter of new incentives The new incentives, which came into effect on 1st January, include a five percent tax rate for 15 years for companies investing in high-value activities within the JS-SEZ, while eligible knowledge workers will also benefit from a 15 percent income tax rate for ten years. The JS-SEZ's focus on high-value industries such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, medical devices and aerospace manufacturing is also expected to create a highly skilled workforce and drive demand for premium residential properties. The zone is expected to create 20,000 skilled jobs in the first five years, and the government seeks to facilitate the expansion of 50 projects within the same timeframe. This surge in economic activity within the JS-SEZ is anticipated to positively impact to real estate investment in Desaru Coast through increased demand for housing, improved infrastructure, and tourism growth, potentially leading to capital appreciation for property owners. Boosting appeal for potential buyers Minor International's chief operating officer Micah Tamthai opines that the new tax incentives will make Anantara Desaru Coast Residences an even more attractive investment proposition for buyers . Tamthai said: "We anticipate an increased demand for Anantara Desaru Coast Residences from discerning buyers in the market for an investment property or a family home. Minor is confident that the new tax incentives will be a major catalyst for economic growth in the region.”
