Singaporeans are embracing the opportunity to travel during the Hari Raya Puasa holiday, with outbound travel bookings rising by 33% compared to last year, according to Trip.com. The travel service provider highlighted that short- and mid-haul destinations within the Asia Pacific region remain popular, with Shanghai, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur leading the list of preferred destinations.

Generation Z and Millennials are the primary drivers of this surge, leveraging their digital savviness to utilise online booking platforms. Trip.com is enhancing the travel experience for these groups with AI-powered tools such as TripGenie and Trip.Planner, which simplify travel planning and management.

In addition to outbound travel, Singapore has seen a 12% increase in inbound travel during the same period. Visitors are drawn to a variety of attractions, including Universal Studios Singapore and Jewel Changi Airport. China, Malaysia, and Thailand are the top contributors to inbound travel, whilst Germany, the United States, and Turkey are among the fastest-growing source markets.

Edmund Ong, General Manager of Trip.com Singapore, noted the trend: “As Singaporeans take time to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa, many are also seizing the opportunity to travel abroad. The desire to venture abroad during the key festive seasons also reflects Singaporeans’ desire to create memorable shared moments through travel.”

With more than 300,000 bookable activities and attractions, Trip.com continues to cater to the diverse interests of travellers, offering experiences across over 2,000 cities worldwide
