Tourism Solomons has announced the appointment of Andrew Nihopara as its new Chief Executive Officer. With more than 20 years of experience in the tourism and public sectors across the Solomon Islands and the Pacific, Nihopara is expected to bolster the country's international tourism profile. Tony Langston, Chairman of the Tourism Solomons Board, highlighted Nihopara's strategic leadership and established presence in the Asia-Pacific tourism sector as key assets for the organisation.

Nihopara's career includes roles such as Head of Marketing for Tourism Solomons from 2001 to 2004 and Marketing Manager and Deputy CEO of the Pacific Tourism Organisation in Fiji from 2006 to 2011. During his tenure, he was recognised as the Pacific-Asia Travel Association’s ‘Face of the Future’. He also served as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the Solomon Islands, contributing to policy development aimed at enhancing tourism growth.

His academic background includes a Master of Commerce in Management and Public Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of South Pacific, alongside a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University, New Zealand. The CEO position at Tourism Solomons had been vacant for over five years, making Nihopara's appointment a significant milestone following a rigorous recruitment process by KPMG Fiji.

Langston expressed confidence in Nihopara's ability to lead the organisation, stating that the board looks forward to collaborating with him to advance the Solomon Islands' tourism sector.
