Travelex, a leading foreign exchange company, has announced the expansion of its retail presence in Qatar with the opening and upgrading of three key store locations. The company has more than doubled its customer service points at Doha Al Jadeda metro station, increasing from three to seven locations. This expansion aims to provide customers with more convenient access to travel money services at one of the city's busiest transport corridors.
Additionally, Travelex has opened a new landside store at the recently expanded Hamad International Airport, where it already operates 15 stores. This new addition is set to cater to the increasing demand for travel money, as the airport handled a record 54.3 million passengers in 2025, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. In Doha’s historical Matar Qadeem district, Travelex has launched a store primarily offering remittance services, allowing customers to send money to over 350,000 locations globally.
Batu Dölay, Travelex Managing Director for the Middle East, Turkey, and Southeast Asia, stated, “Despite recent challenges, Qatar continues to see strong long-term momentum in international travel, and these new openings ensure we are well positioned to meet growing customer demand across key locations.”
Travelex now operates 19 stores across Doha, offering access to more than 45 currencies. Customers can purchase currencies on the day of their trip or collect them after pre-ordering on the Travelex website. This expansion underscores Travelex's commitment to enhancing convenience and accessibility for both travellers and local communities in Qatar.
