Trip.com Group, a leading global travel services provider, has announced a series of innovations and partnerships at its annual Envision Global Partner Conference in Shanghai. The event, attended by 3,500 guests from 78 countries, highlighted the company's strategic roadmap focused on partnership, artificial intelligence (AI), and shared value across the travel ecosystem.
The conference marked a new era for global tourism, with CEO Jane Sun emphasising the sector's resilience and growth. Tourism now accounts for approximately 10% of global GDP, with a record $11.6 trillion (US$11.6 trillion) in 2025. Trip.com Group reported a 60% year-on-year increase in overall bookings on its international online travel agency platform in 2025, with outbound hotel and flight bookings surpassing 140% of 2019 levels.
Key growth opportunities were identified as the "3 Ds" of global travel: Discovery, Diversity, and Journeys in Depth. Emerging destinations like Uzbekistan, Argentina, and Colombia were highlighted as fast-growing, whilst diverse experiences and long-haul trips are gaining popularity.
The company awarded $600,000 (US$600,000) in grants through its Tourism Innovation Fund, recognising 10 standout projects, including Universal Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort and the Almaty Museum of Arts in Kazakhstan. James Liang, cofounder and chairman, stated, "Innovation is the spark that turns imagination into journeys."
Trip.com Group also announced new partnerships, including a Memorandum of Understanding with Tourism Tasmania and a collaboration with Visa. The company continues to expand its global reach, opening new offices and enhancing its presence in key markets.
